Veteran's Day Honor

November 11 was Veteran’s Day Celebration in our country, and schools and most government businesses were closed. This year was the 100th anniversary of the ending of hostilities during WWI - - Armistice Day.  This was a cease fire on the 11thhour of the 11th day of the 11th month - - November 11, 11 AM.  We started celebrating Veteran’s Day on this day in 1954.  “Thank you” to all our Veterans and their families who have served and are serving in our US military!  Click HERE to see a video of our band director, William Harris, as he describes his service in the USAF Bands.

November 10, 1775 was the activation of our US Marine Corps by an Act of Congress. They celebrated their 167thanniversary on November 10.  Band students have watched videos in class of the US Marine Band performing concerts and marching in parades.

The Union Elementary 5th Grade Band will be performing at this year’s Holiday Concert on Thursday night, December, 13 at 6:30 PM.  Students are asked to be there 15 mins early to be seated and ready to play.  Please wear festive colors of red, green, white, blue, or black!  If there are any of our 5th grade students that have Mexican/Spanish dresses, PLEASE wear them for a special Mexican song we are doing. Gentlemen may also wear vests, shirt & tie, and sombreros or Mexican Ponchos if they have them!
