Guest Speaker Comes to the Spanish Immersion Classes
The Third and Fourth Grade Spanish Immersion classes hosted a guest speaker on Friday, December 6. Pastor Salatiel Chuc visited the two classes to teach about Yucatan, Mexico and the Maya culture. He spoke about the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Talum, traditional foods of the Yucatan, typical Maya dress and customs, and cenotes. Students were also taught some of the native Mayan language. The entire presentation was given in Spanish and students were permitted to ask ‘preguntas’ (questions) throughout. Following the presentation students wrote about what they learned and sent a thank you note to Mr. Chuc.
