“Bless-a-Birthday” Community Service Project

Mrs. Best’s 4th grade AIG students finished reading the book, A Single Shard, in which the main character was a homeless orphan.  As a result, students decided to complete a service project that benefits homeless students.  They are supporting the charity, Bright Blessings.  Bright Blessings provides birthday parties for over 13,000 homeless and impoverished children in our local area (Union, Mecklenburg, York and Cabarrus counties).

Students have created posters to hang around the school and have written their own PSAs for the morning announcements each day.  They got the whole school involved in their “Bless-a-Birthday” Community Service Project.  Collection was held throughout the month of January.  Donations were dropped off outside the Media Center.

The following items have been collected: cake mix, icing, juice boxes, wrapping paper, birthday plates/napkins, Matchbox cars, Barbie dolls, journals, small Lego sets, Nerf footballs, card games, and board games, and many more.

Mrs. Best's students would like to say thank you Wildcats for supporting their cause!
