WHS Spotlight Teacher - Marc Pooler
What is your favorite aspect of teaching?
When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
Teaching is actually my second career. I was an estimator for a construction company prior. However, I had a hard time surviving in an office all day. I took a week off at one point to think about life and what I wanted to do. My wife, Christina Pooler, asked me to come into her classroom to help her with a lab. After that, I was hooked. So, it was my wife that inspired the change.
How long have you been at Weddington High School?
This is my fourth year at Weddington.
What are three adjectives that your friends would use to describe you?
Extra, caring & loyal. What is a piece of advice that a mentor gave you that stuck with you?
Take your job 100% seriously, but not yourself.
If you could teach any class in the world, what would it be?
Honestly, it would be a hybrid class that ties science and history together. Those are my two favorite subjects.
What WHS teacher inspires you?
Honestly, I will be cliché here and not name a specific person. The reason is that I have never worked at a better school with better colleagues. There are so many amazing people here that I could never name just one. But just in case my wife reads this, the answer is Christina Pooler.
