Since October 2018, Western Union’s Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) team has been working hard to prepare for this year’s county competition. On Monday, March 18th, they competed against 18 other elementary teams at the Union County Ag Center. Although they did not make it to the final round, they worked extremely hard and showed excellent teamwork through some very tough questions!
During each weekly after school practice, students read books and memorized book titles and their corresponding authors. They were required to read from a list of 15 books that included popular titles such as Ban this Book by Alan Gratz, Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix, How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O’Connor, and The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm. Many students reported that they read books they wouldn’t have chosen on their own--and enjoyed them!
Congratulations to all of the EBOB team members and their coaches on a very successful season!
