Connect Ed - Sept. 15

Connect Ed - Sept. 15

Good afternoon Piedmont families,

This is Principal Eley with the weekly updates. First of all, I want to apologize for a discrepancy found in our student handbook regarding dress code. The only change that was made by the administration for this year’s dress code was regarding leggings. The change was to indicate that shirts covering legging must come to mid-thigh. However, it was brought to our attention that this change was also made to shorts, skirts, and dresses. This rule still stands that fingertip length is required for these clothing items. We are working to clarify this with staff and families, and I apologize for the error.

On October 3rd from 6:00-7:30, we will be holding a parent information night. Administration and guidance staff will offer a menu of options for parents to choose to attend during this time. We hope that you all come out to learn more about student social and emotional health, career and college readiness and more.

This week will be our first week with our new Panther Time schedule. Students will attend homeroom on Mondays, enrichment, and intervention on Tuesdays and Thursdays, drop everything and read on Wednesdays, and clubs on Fridays. We are excited to have opportunities for students to get involved and engaged here at Piedmont Middle.

The week of September 23rd through the 27th is Start with Hello Week sponsored by the Sandy Hook Promise. Our school will have several activities planned for school-wide promotion of inclusion and kindness for our students. Please stay connected with social media and school announcements to learn more.

Finally, I’m excited to announce that this week’s Evening with Eley stars many of our students and teachers giving valuable advice to their 6th-grade selves. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to hear what they have to share! I am so proud of their interest in participating in this week’s outreach!
