This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary School. We are very excited to welcome our new Kindergarten students soon. I hope this email will be informational and will assist your planning for the next few weeks.
Kindergarten Assessments will take place on July 18th and August 14th. Your child should only attend one of these sessions. Please click here to register for one of the sessions. Parents will receive information about Kindergarten and our staff will complete assessments that will assist with placement decisions for your child. If you are unable to attend either date... the staff will assess your child once school begins. Students will be provided with activities for free play while waiting for the assessments to be completed. The session begins at 8:30 am and should be finished by 11:00 am.
New Family Orientation is scheduled for August 16th from 10:00am - 11:30am. Families will learn about the school, take a tour of the building and meet other families who are also new to our school.
All families will receive a phone call from their child's teacher on August 19th or August 20th. The teacher will introduce themselves and provide information about staggered entry. All Kindergarten students will participate in staggered entry. The first day of school is Monday, August 26th and your child will ATTEND ONE DAY of school during the first five days of school. Staggered entry is designed to provide the teacher time to get to know your child and build relationships that will enable a terrific start to the new year. NO Kindergarten Students will attend on Friday, August 30th. Parents will be invited to introductory meeting in their child's classroom at 10:00am on August 30th. We ask that students do not attend this meeting, however our staff can make arrangements to supervise your Kindergartener if needed.
On August 22nd, our school will hold Open House for all students in grades K-5. We will offer two sessions:
Session 1 - 11:00am - 12:30pm (Last name A-K)
Session 2 - 4:30pm - 6:00pm (Last name L-Z)
Parents may attend the session that best meets your scheduling needs. This event will provide an opportunity for you to obtain information about the Antioch PTO, our After School Care Program, Transportation and Child Nutrition.
Antioch Elementary is currently seeking to fill vacant parent representative seats on the School Improvement Team for the 2019 - 2020 school year. This team will discuss matters that are relevant to our school. Parent representatives are required to be a point of contact for other parents within your grade level. Your email address will be shared with parents. We are in need of the following representation: Kindergarten, Second Grade and Fourth Grade. This is a monthly commitment. The first meeting is Tuesday, August 20th, 8:00am - 3:00pm. The School Improvement Plan will be created during this meeting. All other meetings are from 2:30pm - 4:00pm. Meeting dates are as follows: 9/18, 10/16, 11/20, 12/18, 1/22, 2/19, 3/18 and 4/22. I realize that this is a significant commitment and look forward to your interest. All candidates will be placed on a ballot and a grade level representative will be elected by parents. This form will close on August 8th.
