Message from Mr. Childers September 8, 2019
This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary School. Last week our students and staff successfully performed our first lockdown drill and second fire drill. Both drills were very smooth, even though we experienced some difficultly resetting the fire alarm pull station. This malfunction did NOT prevent the system from operating properly and the UCPS maintenance team quickly made the necessary repairs.
The Antioch PTO raised more than $1,800 last week with the Gatorthon loose change drive. The three winning classes will receive inspirational bracelets this week. Click here to view the most recent PTO Newsletter.
Union County Public Schools is currently experiencing a bus driver shortage and the growth of our school is creating bus routes that are very full. Just to clarify… NO BUS LEAVES THE LOT AT ANTIOCH THAT IS OVER THE CAPACITY SET BY THE BUS MANUFACTURER. However these conditions do require that our school immediately enforces a policy that does not permit students to ride home with friends on any bus other than the bus that the student has been assigned. A different stop on the same bus is permitted provided our school is appropriately notified by the parent.
Except for Kindergarten students, parents are no longer permitted to walk their child to class. You may walk your child to class if she/he has a project, treats for the class or some other reason that necessitates your assistance. All parents of first - fifth grade must sign in at the office to assist your child. Kindergarten parents may continue to walk children to class for two more weeks without stopping by the office.
On September 12th, Third Grade students will take the Beginning of Grade Reading Test. Please make sure that your child is rested and arrives at school on time.
The Dual Language Advisory Council will meet on September 17th. Please email your parent representative with questions or concerns.
