Message from Mr. Childers August 18, 2020


Hello Parents,


This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary School. Our first day of school for Monday students went very well. Antioch had 146 students attend for face to face instruction. I have a few tips that will make you and your child's return to school a little easier. 


  1. Afternoon Car Riders are not dismissed until 2:10pm. I would suggest that parents not arrive at school before 2:00pm. This will reduce your wait and will not delay your child's dismissal. 


  1. Please make sure your child knows their teacher's name and grade. Feel free to write it down for your child or place note on their shirt or backpack. 


  1. Please contact your child's teacher directly if your child is marked as absent and you feel this is a mistake. The teacher can correct that information quickly. Teachers must mark each student as Present - On Site, Present - Off Site or Absent each day. 


  1. New transportation requests require a 3-5 business day implementation period. If your child does not have boarding information in the Here Comes the Bus App and you want them to ride the bus, you may email Mrs. Hansen (


  1. Parents who are having technology issues should explore these resources. UCPS will use Canvas as our LMS (Learning Management System). Parents may find this information very valuable as you prepare to support your children. Click here to access the Canvas Parent Readiness Checklist .
