Hello Parents,


This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary.  This is Spirit Week at Antioch. Monday is a Teacher Workday and therefore no school for students either face to face or remotely. Tuesday is Sports Day, Wednesday is crazy hair day and students are invited to wear Antioch Gear or colors (Green and Blue) on Thursday.


Beginning this week, face to face learners may return to school for two days of instruction. Monday and Tuesday students will only have school on Tuesday of this week due to the teacher workday on Monday. Wednesday and Thursday students may attend school  on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will continue to serve as a remote learning day. This schedule will continue until October 26th, at which time students in grades K-5 will return to school four days per week. Families may also choose Plan "D" which is a full virtual option.


I realize many parents have questions regarding Plan A and Plan D. Please use this form to post your questions. I will respond to your questions as quickly as possible. Please read previously posted questions to prevent duplication.  I will also offer two Parent Discussion Sessions via Google Meet. These sessions will take place on September 29th @ 1:00pm and 7:00pm. I will provide the link to access the meeting on Tuesday. Please enter your question and your email address so I can follow up if clarification is necessary. I encourage parents to delay your decision regarding your plan choice until all of your questions have been answered. Parents must use this link to complete the Scribbles Application for Plan D. The deadline for choosing your child’s plan is Sunday, October 4th. If you wish to choose Plan "D"… you must complete the scribble form even if your child is currently in Plan D. Parents DO NOT need to complete the Scribbles form if you are choosing Plan "A". Students will automatically be placed into Plan "A" if parents do not complete the Scribbles link above before the deadline. Per Union County Public Schools Board of Education, the decision to choose either Plan "A" or Plan "D" is a commitment for the school year.


New Screening Guidance- This new guidance will begin on Tuesday, September 29th 

  1. Updated guidance in the Strong Schools NC Public Health Toolkit (K-12). UCPS Nurses will follow the health guidance that was updated on September 17, 2020.   This guidance now requires anyone with the following symptoms, a fever, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell, to be excluded for 10 days and all household members to quarantine for 14 days from last exposure, unless the symptomatic person is cleared as a result of a negative test for COVID-19 (the previous guidance only required quarantine of 10 days of the symptomatic person and did not require exclusion of household members.).  The impact from this updated guidance will result in the exclusion of more people who are household members.
  2. Current guidance requires a mandatory 10 day exclusion for fever, chills, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell. In addition to these symptoms, another change for nursing protocols will be excluding students or staff who have symptoms of fatigue, muscle or body aches, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, headache, and gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting and diarrhea).  These additional symptoms will not result in the mandatory 10 day exclusion.  Students or staff with the additional symptoms would be able to return when they feel well.


Bus Transportation: All parents of students who use UCPS bus transportation this year will be asked to complete a weekly Attestation Form. The form provides assurance that parents are NOT sending at risk student on the bus. Click here to access the electronic form.

Cafeteria:  Our cafeteria serves hot and healthy meals daily. Access the breakfast  or lunch menu. Download the Mobile Menu App for your smartphone which will provide  interactive lunch nutritional information and a link to the online payment provider. Our cafeteria also sells items such as Cool Ranch Doritos, Flamas Doritios, Cheetos, Cookies and Rice Crispy Treats. Students my purchase switch drinks and bottled water in addition to milk. Tuesday - Lucky Charms, Graham cracker, pears

Wednesday - Cinnamon Bun and juice

Thursday - Egg and Cheese Biscuit with juice


Lunch Menu

Tuesday - Chicken and cheese Quesadilla with chips or Corn Dog, BBQ beans, Pears

Wednesday - Popcorn Chicken or Spaghetti with Garlic Breadstick, Caesar Salad and Blueberries

Thursday - Cheese Stick Dippers or Submarine Sandwich, Parmesan Broccoli and a Fresh Apple


Progress Reports will be sent home this week. Students who attend school for face to face instruction on Monday or Tuesday should receive their report on Tuesday. Students who attend school for face to face instruction on Wednesday or Thursday will receive their report on Wednesday. Virtual or fully remote students will receive their report via email by Friday.


Powerschool Information: Any parent who needs to obtain their child's powerschool information may email Mrs. Hansen ( or Mrs. Perry ( I would encourage all parents of students in grades third, fourth and fifth to obtain this information. This will give you access to the parent portal and you can see your child's grades and missing assignments.

New School Dismissal Manager!

*This app will our main system used for early dismissals, checking out, tardies, transportation changes, etc.*

School Dismissal Manager notifies the school of your updates so that, effective Monday, August 31, 2020, it is no longer necessary for you to phone the school, send notes, or send an email to inform the school of dismissal changes. 

School Dismissal Manager will provide us with a more organized and efficient tracking system for afternoon dismissals.

Create an Account:

Go to click on "Forgot Password" feature to set a new password and get into the system.  You will use your email as the username.  You need to create your account on a computer first and then you can load the App on your phone.

Union County Public Schools values the feedback of our students, parents and staff.  In an effort to continue high quality, rigorous learning experiences and social-emotional support for students, the school district has partnered with Panorama Education to administer a survey to 3rd – 12th graders.
