Message from Mr. Childers January 31, 2021

Hello Parents,

This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary. Last week our school experienced two COVID cases which impacted other students and staff. I realize that this is an extremely difficult time for everyone… particularly parents. I encourage you to monitor your child frequently for COVID symptoms and please keep them at home if you have any doubts regarding their ability to attend school. You may email Mrs. Simpson (desiree.simpson@ucps.k12.nc.us) or call her at 704 296-3005 if you have questions.

UCPS has decided to prevent students from exchanging valentines or treats at school. Our school had already discussed our distribution processes and in some cases this information has already been communicated with parents. Antioch must abide by this directive. Please do not send valentines or treats to school for distribution. Teachers have been directed to send these back home with your child.

There are 76 days of school remaining this school year and 62 of those days are face to face days. Please continue to collaborate with your child's teacher to make the most the time remaining this year. Parent Alert letters will be sent to families of students who are struggling. These letters are usually sent with the January Report Card. Our school will send those letters later this week. I have asked your child's teacher to call you in advance of sending home a letter.
