Hello Parents,

 

This is Tom Childers contacting you from Antioch Elementary. The next two weeks will be very busy at our school. Wednesday, October 5th is a teacher workday and students will not attend school. The fall book fair begins class preview visits on Thursday and Friday. Family Shopping Night is Friday, October 7th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Families are invited to attend Browse Books B4 School on Tuesday, October 11th and Wednesday, October 12th. Our school is planning a series of parent workshops. Antioch Elementary Fall Book Fair- October 6- 13, 2022

• Class Preview Visits are Thursday and Friday, October 6-7. 
• Class Purchase Visits are October 10-13. Your student's teacher will let you know their scheduled times! 
• Family Shopping Night- Friday, October 7 @ 5:00- 7:00 p.m.-Stop in and be the first to shop at the book fair! Check out your teacher’s “Book Wish Box” too!
• Browse Books B4 School - Tuesday, October 11 & Wednesday, October 12 from 7:00- 8:30 a.m.  Families and students have time to shop together!  We are encouraging grades 3-5 families to come 7:00- 7:45 a.m. and grades K-2 families to come 7:45- 8:30 a.m. to spread out crowds and reduce traffic. Please come at the time that suits your schedule but know that traffic is much lighter after 7:30 a.m.! This is a shopping-only event this time. Students will not be counted tardy if they attend with a family member.

This information will allow me to respond to your question or concern more quickly. Parents may access all archived messages on the school website. Our school phone number is 704 296-3005. I strongly encourage you to listen to your voice message before returning a missed call from the school. Antioch Elementary has nearly a hundred staff members and it is sometimes very difficult for our office staff to determined who called you. Please note that our school receives many phone calls each day.

 IXL This online learning platform provides your child with opportunities to practice Reading and Math skills. This resource is a terrific supplement to learning but does not replace quality instruction. Your child can certainly use this platform to enhance their learning. Students may practice previously learned information or challenge themselves with above grade level concepts. Your child should have a username and a password to access this great resource. School Nutrition

Our school serves breakfast from 7:00am - 7:20am. Students who arrive in the cafeteria after 7:20am will not be permitted to eat breakfast. Lunch is served daily and you may click here to view the menu.

Parents are permitted to have lunch with their child (M-Th) - SEE THE SCHEDULE BELOW.  Students may have one visitor  due to seating limitations. Lunch with your child is open on Monday through Thursday ONLY.

Each classroom teacher has made seating arrangements for you. Most families visiting fourth and fifth grade students will be asked to eat in the courtyard. Please plan your visit accordingly with respect to the weather.

 

Parents are permitted to send in a birthday treat for students to celebrate their child's birthday. All treats must be commercially prepared. I would suggest scheduling this with your child's teacher to prevent multiple treats on the same day.

 

Your child's birthday is an exception to the outlined schedule. Please communicate with your child's teacher. We do not permit parents for lunch on Fridays.

 

Family Lunch Rotation for Lunch:

Week of October 3rd (M-Th) - Families with the last name of L-Q

Week of October 10th (M-Th) - Families with the last name of R-Z

Week of October 17th (M-Th) - Families with the last name of A-E

Week of October 24th (M-Th) - Families with the last name of F-K

 

Recess & Lunch Volunteers

Antioch Elementary is seeking parents willing to cover recess and lunch for the classroom teacher. We have created a thoughtful coverage schedule which ensures that at least 50% of the classroom teachers (or substitutes) are present during recess on any given day. This will be a rain or shine schedule, so please make sure that you are available before completing this form. Thank you in advance for your continued support of our school.
