Pre-K

  • PreK Door The exceptional children's pre-k program at Sardis is designed to provide educational services to children with special needs as well as welcoming typical "peer pals".  We have certified teachers who have specialized training in birth through kindergarten.

To plan and guide our classroom, we use Creative Curriculum and Foundations which helps us teach in ways that match the way children develop and learn.  The curriculum takes all subject areas of literacy, math, science, social studies, and art and shows us how to teach it in ways that support children's academic progress while respecting the way they grow and develop.  It also includes opportunities for your child to develop social skills, self-help skills, and fine and gross motor skills.  Our philosophy is that young children learn best by engaging in structured play activities.  We share wonderful books which expand into music, art, and play activities.  The wonderful thing about having inclusion with typical peer pals is that the students with Individualized Education Plans learn side by side along with their "peer pals".  Our goal is to create a safe, loving, and secure learning environment where we can teach effectively and where our students can thrive.

EC students attending pre-k can be three to five years old and attend based upon their IEP.  Peer pals have to be four years old on or before August 31 and potty trained, and there is a fee for them to attend so it is based on what the parents decide along with the classroom teacher.
