No early releases are allowed. The school day is over at 11:00am. Parents arriving to sign-out students for early dismissal will be informed that the student will be marked absent for the day.
Early Release Days (October 3, December 7, February 15 and March 22)
Union County Public Schools will have four Early Release Days during the 2016-17 school year. The days will allow teachers and staff to participate in professional development sessions. On Early Release Days, lunch will be served and buses will run according to the adjusted schedule. The After School Program will follow the Early Release Schedule and end at 6 p.m.
Last month, under the leadership of Mrs. Amanda Furr and our first grade team, our students collected school supplies for students affected by Hurricane Matthew. Mrs. Furr collaborated with Mrs. Amanda Greene, our new AIG teacher, who had recently moved from the hurricane affected area and had personal connections in the area.
Patriot Day is recognized as the the official day of remembrance for the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. Many brave men and women risked their lives to help the victims. To expand on the importance of Patriot Day, our first grade students participated in Heroes Week.
This year our kindergarten classes at Porter Ridge have had a special opportunity to partner with a classroom across the world! We have developed a friendship with a 1st grade class in Cairo, Egypt
