First grade is a great year when the strides the students make are tremendous!  The students are eager to become independent readers. They love to read together and on their own!

Students continue to learn letter sounds and patterns to read. They also apply these skills to their writing.

In math, we solve problems using numbers, words, objects, and pictures. We also work to find fun and quick ways to group numbers! Geometry and measurement concepts are included in our curriculum as well.

In science, we learn about force and motion, the earth’s materials, and plants and animals.

In social studies we learn about rules and laws, communities, conflict resolution, cultures, and traditions, just to name a few.

FIRST GRADE IS A BUSY YEAR!!!
