We welcome our new staff members to our Fairview Family!
My name is Gwendalyn Iversen and I am the new Instructional Coach at Fairview Elementary. I currently live in Indian Trail with my husband and daughter, who is currently a 10th grader at CATA. We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats that complete our family. I have worked in Union County for the last 5 years at Hemby Bridge Elementary as a Third Grade Teacher and as a Literacy Specialist. I have also taught 1st and 2nd grade while working for CMS. While at CMS, I partnered with the Charlotte Teachers Institute and published 2 math units through them. Before that, I was the education coordinator for Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville. My family and I enjoy going to zoos, museums, riding our bikes and going to the movies. I love to bake, be outdoors and have recently started making clay earrings as a hobby. I am so excited to be at Fairview Elementary and I look forward to getting to know all the students and families.
My name is Mrs. Amy Morton! I will be working as an Instructional Assistant - EC-CBSS. My husband's name is Jamie. I have two children, Lindsey and Austin. My favorite things are spending time with my family (especially my granddaughter, Ella) and crafting. I've spent years being an office manager, but most recently a substitute for UCPS. I am so excited about this year and cannot wait to see my students grow!
My name is Cathy Rider. I am originally from Mendota, Illinois. Mendota is about 80 miles from Chicago. Prior to moving to North Carolina, I lived in Lawson, MO. This is my 19th year of teaching. I am lucky enough to have my dream job as a Literacy Specialist this year. I have two sons, Garrett and Griffin. Garrett is an Associate Producer at Fox. He works primarily on racing events but does work on basketball and football in the off season. Griffin is a car chief for Michael McDowell's #34 Loves Ford in NASCAR. They are the reason that I moved to North Carolina. It was the best decision ever! I live in Richfield, NC. We live on 10 acres, which is very peaceful. We have two dogs, Maggie and Monroe, who love running and getting into the pond. In my free time, I love going to the lake or the beach. I also love baking and reading. I am super excited about being at Fairview. Everyone is so nice and welcoming!
