SMART Lunch Implementation at MRHS for 2019-2020- What is SMART Lunch? Students Maximizing Achievement, Relationships, and Time: a restructuring of the daily bell schedule that allows students to have a window of time in the middle of the day for a variety of supports & experiences related to their academic life, social/emotional needs, health & well-being, college & career preparation & more. In addition to having a time for lunch each day, students will have opportunities to complete make-up work, receive tutoring help, study, participate in club meetings, explore areas of special interests, and collaborate with both peers & staff members for a variety of purposes. Homeroom sessions will be held during this band of time throughout the year as well. In our SMART lunch approach, each class period will be 83 minutes. From approximately 10:55am to 12:04pm, students will have the opportunity to choose from one of two lunch periods and have opportunities to choose from an array of offerings that will serve a variety of purposes. We believe the SMART lunch schedule will energize the culture of our school and create opportunities to address our students’ greatest needs in new and innovative ways.
