Porter Ridge Elementary serves kindergarten through fifth-grade students and is located in Indian Trail. Our student body and faculty are diverse. Our students are accepting of differences and celebrate them. Our staff does an excellent job of considering the whole child to personalize learning and maximize student strengths. They work together to provide students with hands-on learning experiences that allow them to work in groups to develop 21st-century skills.

- In 2019, we created our first dual-language Spanish immersion class.
- Our students participate in monthly clubs to support creativity and interests beyond the classroom.
- Our teachers incorporate STEM Connect modules from Discovery Education to provide problem-based learning experiences for our students.
- Our families and students love to give back to the community! We participate in blood drives, food drives and other outreach projects.
- We support outside after-school opportunities such as Girls on the Run and the Good News Club.
- We partner with such groups as "First Tee" and "Grow the Game" to provide additional experiences for students during the school day.
- Our fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to participate in our chorus, Porter Notes, and our performing group, Porter Players.
- We have a strong PBIS model to help develop good character and self-reliance with our students.

Kristi Williford (Principal)
About Mrs. Williford
Kristi Williford graduated from Appalachian State University in 1995 with a BS in Mathematics and minor in Physics. Following graduation, Mrs. Williford moved to Cabarrus County where she started her teaching career. She started at the middle school level and then moved to the high school level as a math teacher for four years prior to being accepted at UNC Charlotte in the Principal Fellows program. Mrs. Williford received her master's degree in administration in 2003. She was an assistant principal in Cabarrus County for four years and a principal for five years.
Mrs. Williford moved with her family to Union County in 2013. She is married to Eric Williford, who is a physical education teacher. They have three wonderful children, Kaley, Trent and Brooke. Mrs. Williford served as principal and assistant principal at Western Union Elementary before arriving at Porter Ridge Elementary.

Jalonda Polk (Assistant Principal)
About Mrs. Polk
Mrs. Jalonda Polk began her career in education in 2002 with Anson County Schools and then transitioned to Union County Public Schools in July of 2006. She has been a pre-kindergarten teacher, first-grade teacher, summer school teacher, administrative intern, and assistant principal.
During her time in the public school system, she has also taught Adult High School classes for South Piedmont Community College. Mrs. Polk loves to be involved in the learning process for children and adults and she is a lifelong learner. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from North Carolina A&T State University and her master’s degree in School Administration from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Mrs. Polk resides in Wingate with her husband, Jercoby and daughters, Bobbi and Baylee. She enjoys spending time with her family and is active in her church.
