Announcements

  • Thank you PTO board members, parents who made donations, and parent volunteers.  You made Teacher Appreciation Week rock!  Thank you for all the love you showed our special New Salem Team.

Because of end of year celebrations, class parties, field day, and the like, students will be eating in their classrooms on June 2nd and June 3rd.  Our cafeteria will offer one entrée each day.  On June 2nd, the entrée will be a chicken patty sandwich. On June 3rd they will serve sub sandwiches with ham and turkey.

The end of the school year gets busy and it's easy to get out of the routine.  If your child is a car rider, please make sure they are here before 7:30.  Instruction begins at 7:30, so if your child walks in the door at 7:30 they are missing instruction.  Students can arrive at NSES as early as 7 AM.

Let’s end this message with a kid celebration.  New Salem Elementary students, thanks to Mrs. Brown’s hard work, participated in the NC Farm to Table Calendar Contest.  Out of 4,246 entries from across the state of NC, New Salem had one finalist and three honorable mentions.  Congratulations to McKinley Moore for being a finalist.  Her art will be featured in the calendar.  And congratulations to Emma Stevenson, Charlotte Rollins, and Jordyn Whitford who earned honorable mentions!  All four students will have their artwork featured on farmtoschool.com.

    Way to go kiddos!

  • The Fun Run will be on April 8th.  This is the second of our school's major fundraisers.  Pledge forms and prize sheets have been sent home.  Students collect pledges for simply participating in the Fun Run.  Jot your pledges down and collect and turn in money anytime between now and April 12th.

Next week I will be communicating how parent volunteers can sign up to help.

Due to the condition of the track, we will be running a cross-country style run and the final lap will be a color run.

Tuesday, March 29th is our Family Book Fair Night (5-6) and Talent Show (6-7)!

The PTO has organized a Mother and Son Bowling Knight at Fox’s Alley Bowling on Friday, April 1st.  Please see the flyer for more details that came home last night.
