Mission Statement
The media program is designed to support, compliment and enhance the educational philosophy, goals and objectives of Union Elementary School.
Procedures
The Media Center is open during the day from 7:00 - 2:00. The media specialist collaborates with classroom teachers informally to plan lessons around the classroom curriculum.
The media center operates on a fix/flex schedule. Students visit the media center once a week. During their weekly visit, students may renew or check out new materials from the media center. All books must be returned before checking out more items. Books may be checked out for two weeks.
The media center does not charge late fees, but students with overdue books will not be allowed to check out until the overdue items are paid for or returned. If a book is lost or damaged, the student will need to pay for a replacement. A note to parents is sent home to inform them of the lost or damaged item and the replacement cost.
Teachers have flexible access to all media materials through out the day.
