  • Charlotte Checker's Hockey Game

    This year, all 3rd through 5th grade students are once again invited to perform the Star Spangled Banner at a Charlotte Checker’s hockey game at 7:15 pm on February 9, 2018. This PTO-sponsored family fun event has grown in popularity over the years. I hope that your child will consider performing with us this year, as we honor our country in this very special way.   • Winter Book Fair is Coming Soon!

    It's time for us to "PAWS to Read!"  Our Winter Book Fair at Marvin Elementary will start on Monday February 19 - Friday February 23.  We will be open every day from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Please feel free to come in with your children before school, after school (transportation changes must be in writing and received prior to 1:30), or at lunchtime.  If you are sending money in with your children, please remember to send extra for sales tax.    The Book Fair can not be a success without the help of parent volunteers, click here for to sign-up.  If you have any questions, please contact the Book Fair Committee Chair - Kim Vandenberg at kbvandenberg@yahoo.com

  • Fifth Graders Explore Wilmington, NC

    On November 15th, the fifth graders set off for their annual overnight field trip to Wilmington, NC. While there, students saw their recent Ecosystems science unit come to life during a hands-on Ocean Studies program on Masonboro Island where students caught crabs, hunted for seashells, and learned about the plants and animals that inhabit the island.

  • First Grade Learns to Cook

    During the week of November 6th our first graders were busy making bread. Our students learned that a recipe was another kind of informational text. The lesson also integrated science, social studies, math and social skills. It was hands on and engaging! The best part of it was that is was also fun and yummy!

  • First Graders Visit with Charlotte Firefighters

    On October 12th the first grade was honored to have firefighters from the Charlotte Fire Department visit for Fire Safety Month. The firefighters talked about fire safety, gear, and planning escape routes.
