Courtney Luce (Principal)
About Ms. Luce

Courtney Luce is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. She attended Wingate University where she received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education in 2006. She recently completed her Master's degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte through the Principal Fellows program.

Ms. Luce has been a part of Union County Public Schools for 16 years. She was a classroom teacher at Unionville Elementary for 15 years where she taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades. She then served as an Assistant Principal Intern at Stallings Elementary before being named the Assistant Principal at Marshville Elementary. She is so excited to now be the Principal of MVES!

Away from work, she enjoys relaxing at the beach, cheering on her Tennessee Volunteers, spending time with family and friends, and fostering dogs for local animal shelters.

Ms. Luce is committed to fostering an enthusiasm for learning with the students at Marshville Elementary and is dedicated to helping them grow into lifelong learners. She is excited about serving the families, students, staff, and members of the Marshville community.

Crystle Welsh (Assistant Principal)
About Mrs. Welsh

Mrs. Welsh is originally from New York and moved to North Carolina in 2006. She began her teaching career in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, where she taught third grade for six years. She later joined Union County Public Schools and has proudly served in the district for the past 13 years.

Mrs. Welsh earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Dowling College (2006), and her Masters in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte in May 2025.

At Sun Valley Elementary, Mrs. Welsh taught fourth grade for five years. She then joined Marshville Elementary in 2018, where she served in additional leadership roles as a Math Interventionist, MTSS Coordinator, and Instructional Support Specialist before being named Assistant Principal in February 2023. Over the years, she has served in many capacities at MVES and truly loves working alongside the dedicated staff and amazing students.

Mrs. Welsh resides in Indian Trail with her family. She enjoys spending time with loved ones and cheering on her daughter, who dances competitively and is a junior varsity cheerleader at Sun Valley High School.

As she enters her 20th year in education during the 2025–2026 school year, Mrs. Welsh remains deeply committed to making a positive and lasting impact within her school community.
