REALIGNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MR. FERGUSON
Have you checked to see if your student is affected by realignment? This week, to the best of our ability, we have sent letters home with all students that are being reassigned to a different school next year. As of today every student that is being reassigned to Piedmont Middle, Piedmont High, Sun Valley Middle, and Sun Valley High had the opportunity to meet both administration and counseling representatives from those schools.
I highly encourage every parent to check to see if your child is affected by realignment.
If you are affected by realignment you can also check to see if your child qualifies for grandfathering which means they could stay at their current school if the parent elects. For information on realignment and grandfathering please go to the UCPS website and click Realignment 2018. I walked every student through the website this morning so they can be a support to you in this process.
The deadline to grandfather is April 23rd.
If you have questions about this process please feel free to call HSA@MMS and we will be glad to support you in any way. If you need a laptop and internet access we can support you with that need as well. Just come to the front office and ask for support.
