Please look at and converse with your child about their progress. It is never too late to improve.Third: We are having Red Ribbon Week next week and each day is themed differently: Monday is crazy socks, Tuesday is Sports Team shirt day, Wednesday is Crazy hair Day, Thursday is Wear a red shirt day for all grade levels in order to celebrate Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug FreeLastly: We are still struggling to make sure we have all the right contacts for all families, please use the link in the text to complete the consent forms and chromebook forms.Thank You,K. Giddins

Hey Redhawk Families,
Yesterday UCPS made an announcement regarding instructional models and schedules. Under Plan B a decision was made to expand learning options, including adding a second day of in-person instruction for those families who opt for face-to-face teaching and learning. Beginning, Sept. 29, current Pre-K – 12 students on Plan B will attend school two days a week. Under the Plan B expansion model, the new cohort rotation for attending school will be
- Students with last names beginning with A-K will attend school Monday and Tuesday
- Students with the last names beginning with the letters L-Z will attend school Wednesday and Thursdays
All students will work in a remote learning setting on Friday. Current Plan D students will remain in the virtual setting. UCPS will be communicating out further details regarding the second semester in the coming weeks.
Middle school students on the Plan D model do not have the option to return for two days of instruction at this time.
A voicemail with this information will come out later in the day.
Principal Update 8.30.2020
Hey Middle School Redhawks of HSA this is Mrs. Giddins the principal!
We are heading into the third week of the 20-21 school year which means we are on the cusp of progress report time. There are number of students who have yet to log on and that means they are potentially falling behind. Not only do students need to log on but they also need to make sure they are completing work correctly. There are some things they can do to make sure they keep up. They need to check announcements in all their teachers Canvas pages to be aware of what is happening in their the classes. THey need to check their emails and the canvas calendar where there is often invites to live teacher meetings. Also parents we need the back to school forms filled out of the Chromebook form and the consent form. Please complete this information. This will help us make sure we have the right numbers in Power School.
Redhawk Nation, Band Announcement:Please be advised that our band teacher, Mrs. McCormick, is currently on maternity leave. She will be out until the beginning of November. As of now, all assignments are on Canvas for the students to complete. Students will have two weeks to complete each set of assignments called a module. All due dates should be in the students’ Canvas Calendar. Please also be aware that instruments should be staying at home. All playing assignments should be completed at home. If your student has not yet received his/her instrument, please come by the school this Friday 8/28 from 2-4PM to pick them up. Mr. Varney, one of our PE teachers, will be outside to assist you. If you are in need of assistance with Canvas or have questions about grades, please contact Mr. Varney via Canvas messages or email at Kurt.Varney@ucps.k12.nc.us
