REDHAWK BASKETBALL TRYOUTS
Tryouts for the basketball season begin on Monday, October 23, at the following times.
Cheerleading 4:00 – 5:30 (510)
Basketball (Girls) 4:00 – 5:30 (Gym)
Basketball (Boys) 5:30 – 7:00 (Gym)
The Boy’s Team will meet in the cafeteria at 4:00 to collect forms prior to practice.
All who participate in tryouts will need to have the following forms completed.
Provide Proof of Medical Insurance
Concussion Information Sheet
Copies of the forms can be picked up from Mr. Varney or from the front office.
All students who are interested in participating should plan to attend tryouts next week. Forms will be collected on Monday and Tuesday.
FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 21ST
Our Redhawk football teams have two playoff games this Saturday. The information for the games is listed below. Your attendance is apprecatied by all of the partipcants. Please stop by a game or two if you are able.

OCTOBER IS BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH
October is Bullying Prevention Month. UCPS is conducting an anti-bullying video challenge open to all students in our 53 locations. For additional information and requirements please see Mrs. Bost. If you or someone you know needs to speak with someone about bullying please see your school counselor.

EARLY RELEASE DAY TUESDAY OCTOBER 24TH
Tuesday October 24th is an early release day. Students will be released from school at 12:45.
GIRLS ON THE RUN
Girls on the Run club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:15
BATTLE BOOKS MEETING TUESDAY OCTOBER 17TH
We will have Battle of the Books Club Meeting on Tuesday October 31st in the media center from 4:00 to 5:00.
Please bring your composition notebooks to practice notetaking and question writing.

UNIFORM LAUNDRY SERVICES FOR STUDENTS
Heart for Monroe is offering a new service for students who do not have access to laundry facilities at home, or the means to use a laundromat. This service will help students be better prepared and ready for a successful day. On Friday mornings, students will be able to bring their grade level uniform shirt and khaki pants to the Guidance Office. Their clothes will be washed and dried by Heart for Monroe volunteers. The uniforms will be ready for students to take home on Friday afternoons.

MONROE MIDDLE SCHOOL COMMUNITY ELIGIBILITY PROGRAM
We are pleased to inform you that the Monroe Middle School will be implementing the Community Eligibility Program for the 2017-2018 school year, a new option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2017-2018.
What does this mean for you and your children attending Monroe Middle School? All students enrolled in this particular school are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2017-2018 school year.
No further action is required of you. Your children will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.
However, if your student transfers out of this school into a non-CEP school, you must complete an application on order for your children to be considered for free or reduced meals at his/her new school. Siblings who are not enrolled in this school must have an application completed for them in order to be considered for free or reduced meals at their age.
