Sun Valley Middle School NC Report Card
Dear Sun Valley Middle School Families and Friends,
Sun Valley Middle School is located at the heart of the Sun Valley Cluster of schools in Indian Trail, North Carolina. At Sun Valley Middle, we strongly believe that each child is unique. Our school has 100% of teachers classified as Highly Qualified professionals. We have a dynamic blend of seasoned and beginning teachers, along with quality administrators, who are instrumental to our school’s success. We are using 21st Century instructional techniques that implement technology and other resources to prepare our students for a globally competitive world. Professional development is being provided to the staff throughout the school year to enhance and develop literacy-rich, challenging, and rigorous learning environments that focus on real-life connections. As a part of the Leadership Cluster, SVMS is studying the '7 Habits of Effective Teens' by Sean Covey this school year. We are excited about the personal growth leadership outcomes for our students.
According to the new READY End of Grade Tests, SVMS has Exceeded Expected Growth in 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. In 2016-2017, Sun Valley Middle School did not meet expected school growth. Thus, we are committed to investigating and implementing quality instructional practices such as Continuous Classroom Improvement that set a clear direction for student learning. Test scores are just one way to measure accountability. There are many other factors that characterize the qualities of a great school. It is our continuous goal to reach new heights each and every year. Sun Valley Middle School is implementing a ‘Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA)’ approach to ensure school growth. We believe that each student will show growth through the leadership of a Highly Qualified teaching staff using the Continuous Classroom Improvement learning system.
North Carolina’s school READY accountability program provides important information about our schools, but these numbers only tell part of our story. This Report Card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources, and teacher quality.
Sun Valley Middle School is a gem in the community, as it is rich in school culture, diversity and values. The Sun Valley Middle School students and staff demonstrate passion and commitment to make a positive difference in our community and this is evident in the various clubs that are student-led and teacher sponsored. Our phenomenal Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and area businesses have partnered with us to support this fulfilling work.
