Dear Wesley Chapel Parents and Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about North Carolina's school accountability program and Wesley Chapel Elementary School. Visit the North Carolina School Report Card website to access all assessment and other school information. NC Report Cards
Based on data from the 2023-24 school year, we are again an A school! Not only are we an A school, but of elementary schools in North Carolina, we have the 2nd highest school performance grade! In addition, we far exceeded expected growth as determined by the NCDPI. What is most impressive is that our students have now exceeded our school’s pre-pandemic reading, math, and science levels! Very few schools across America can make this claim!
Our students achieved high proficiency scores in math, reaching 94.6% in grades 3-5. The same students reached 88% proficiency in reading with a very high growth measure. In science, our students in grade 5 reached 92.2% proficiency. While not a part of our school’s official grade, our K-2 students’ proficiency levels mirror what our older students achieved.
This school year, we will continue our focus on growing our readers and mathematicians. Collaborating with parents, our staff strives to push our students toward achieving at their highest levels. To achieve this goal, we will continue with the implementation of the Science of Reading and best practices with phonics instruction. In addition, we have lead teachers and tutors who work with small groups of students; this is in addition to our exemplary classroom teachers and instructional assistants.
Parents, we will continue to need your help and partnership to support the academic growth and overall well-being of each student at Wesley Chapel Elementary. Ensure your child arrives to school on time and is prepared, and support our instructional staff by helping your child with homework, and volunteer if you can. Our strong Parent/Teacher Organization is very active and makes Wesley Chapel Elementary a better place to learn, grow, and thrive. They host spirit nights, provide special recognition through awards and other activities, lead fundraising efforts, organize parent/student events, help fund instructional materials and safety initiatives, and provide teacher celebrations and appreciations.
The Wesley Chapel Eagles are working together with our school community and parents to nurture student growth and development each day. The faculty and staff at Wesley Chapel appreciate collaborating with our school community and parents as we prepare our students for present and future successes! Our Eagles know no ceiling to success!
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Henderson, Principal
