Walter Bickett is located just outside of Monroe, North Carolina. Monroe was established in 1843 as the county seat of Union County. It has a population of more than 26,000 (Census 2000). Our most famous resident is Jesse Helms, the late senator, who served 5 terms in the U.S. Senate from 1973-2003.
The Old Courthouse, was built in 1886 and is on the National Register of Historic Places

Lexington Commons and Southwinds provide affordable housing and new neighbors. They are within walking distance and/or bus service is also provided to the school.
