Art Club
Abbey Diaz
Description of Club: Art Club is for students who enjoy art and want to pursue art as either a hobby in life or further in their high school career. The club will curate art shows, use their abilities to improve campus, provide a venue to exchange creative ideas and encourage leadership, teamwork, and artistic expression.
Meeting Times/Location: Mondays from 3:45-4:30 in room 604
Membership Requirements: Currently enrolled in an art course or portfolio review.

Beta Club
Vinson Covington, Ashley Diaz, Samantha Sherlin
Description of Club: The National Beta Club has been encouraging and developing leadership skills in America's youth since 1934. The purpose of the Beta Club is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, morality, ethical conduct, and leadership among school students, to reward achievement, and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school. The motto of The National Beta Club is "Let Us Lead By Serving Others." This motto, more than simply a catchy phrase, states the philosophy upon which The National Beta Club is based. Service to others is indeed one of the most important characteristics of Beta Club membership.
Meeting Times/Location: Every other Thursday at 7:45 am in the media center
Membership Requirements: To qualify, students must maintain an A average, contribute to the school community, and participate in club meetings and events.
How to Sign Up: Applications are made available in the fall semester of each school year. After the application window closes, interviews will be held.
Dues: $20

Debate Club
Natalie Austin
Description of Club: Students meet twice a month to debate various student-chosen topics. Debates take place in the form of one-on-one debate sessions.
Meeting Times/Location: Scheduled Thursdays from 3:30-4:15 (Check with Ms. Austin for the calendar)
Membership Requirements: Attend club meetings regularly and participate in discussions.

Drama Club
Brandi Ford
Description of Club: Drama Club provides a place for students to develop communication skills, enhance critical thinking skills, and grow their artistry through a variety of activities and productions. Students enhance performance and technical skills through hands-on opportunities on the stage and behind the scenes.
Meeting Times/Location: Meeting dates vary monthly & take place in the auditorium.
Membership Requirements: To join, simply come to meetings and events.

Dungeons and Dragons

Description of Club: The D&D Club is a group where we bring together diverse players to create and to adventure in a world formulated by the Dungeon Master. We hope to exude cooperation, critical thinking, and logical skills in order to traverse puzzles and realistic scenarios through the course of these games.
Meeting Times/Location: Fridays after school from 3:30-4:30 pm in the Media Center.
Membership Requirements: Adventurers must have a positive attitude, be passing all of their classes, and provide their own transportation.

FCCLA
Morgon Rivers and Carolyn Hoobler
Description of Club: FCCLA stands for Family Career Community Leaders of America. Students work together to grow in leadership skills while involved in many activities that help them make a difference in their families and community while helping to prepare them for their future careers.
Meeting Times/Location: Tuesdays (twice a month) in room #301 at 3:30 pm.
Membership Requirements: Students must be currently enrolled in a Family & Consumer Science Course or have taken one in the past and must pay dues.
How to Sign Up: Contact either Mrs. Hoobler or Mrs. Rivers and fill out an online membership form.
Dues: $25 which takes care of National & State Dues as well as money for an FCCLA T-shirt.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Description of Club: We are a community working to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
Meeting Times/Location: Every Wednesday morning at 7:50 in the main gym.

FFA
Ian McGrouther and Kevin Funderburk
Description of Club: FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The FFA's vision is to grow leaders, build communities, and strengthen agriculture.
Meeting Times/Location: Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month from 3:45 to 4:45 pm. Meetings are held in room 303.
Membership Requirements: Students must have an interest in leadership, agriculture, and community involvement.

Future Business Leaders of America

Description of Club: FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experience.
Meeting Times/Location: Once a month in Lemaster's room after school
Membership Requirements: Anyone may join

Dues: $20.00 membership fee and additional travel expenses for competitive events or field trips

Future Health Professionals
Tyler Michael
Description of Club: Future Healthcare Providers Club is a club intended for any student planning to enter the healthcare field. It is responsible for running the blood drive each semester. As it is student-led, the members determine all other activities each year.
Meeting Times/Location: As announced. (Mostly Thursdays before or after school.)
Membership Requirements: Must come to 75% of meetings with no OSS for the year.

Key Club

Description of Club: Key club is a community service club. We plan and host events and services within our community. It is a lot of fun. Come join us!
Meeting Times/Location: We will meet on the first Tuesday of each month. (Morning and afternoon meetings are held but students only have to attend one.)
Membership Requirements: Anyone can join!

National Honor Society
Cheryl Brightsen and Nicholas Horne
Description of Club: The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 with the purpose of recognizing and encouraging academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy; scholarship, character, service, and leadership. Membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a commitment, as members must maintain a 4.0 GPA and complete a 20-hour service project each year. The Parkwood chapter of the NHS seeks to encourage academic excellence in its members while helping to develop leadership and a call to community service.
Meeting Times/Location: Thursdays, approximately once a month, with options before and after school in the Media Center. Members may see the NHS Canvas page for specific dates.
Membership Requirements: NHS membership is granted to juniors and seniors who have maintained a minimum 4.0 average and have met the minimum number of Honors courses. Students are further required to complete a majority of Honors level courses through their junior and senior years and a minimum of 20 service hours for their community.
How to Sign Up: Juniors and Seniors who have maintained a 4.0 average and have met the minimum number of Honors courses will receive an application to apply for membership in the fall of each school year. Applicants are then asked to demonstrate their commitment to scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

Robotics Club

Description of Club:
Join our dynamic high school club where brains meet brawn in the exhilarating worlds of chess and robotics! Our club offers an exciting blend of strategic thinking and hands-on engineering as we delve into the realms of both mental agility and mechanical innovation.
In our chess sessions, sharpen your tactical skills, master opening strategies, and engage in thrilling matches with fellow enthusiasts. Whether you're a novice eager to learn or a seasoned player seeking worthy opponents, there's a place for you on our boards.
But the excitement doesn't stop there! Dive into the realm of robotics with our VEX Robotics Competition team. Collaborate with peers to design, build, and program robots to tackle challenging tasks on the competition field. From brainstorming sessions to test runs, every step of the process is a chance to learn, grow, and push the limits of innovation.
Join us every Tuesday from 3:40 to 4:30 PM and unlock your potential in the worlds of chess and robotics. Whether you're drawn to the cerebral challenges of chess or the hands-on thrill of robotics, there's something for everyone in our club!
Meeting Times/Location: Room 403 Tuesday from 3 40 to 4 30 PM
Membership Requirements: Pay dues, attendance is mandatory, if you are an officer and miss 2 times you will lose the position

Science Olympiad

Description of Club: Science Olympiad is a series of 23 team events for high school. Each of these events consists of hands-on and active team participation. There are many aspects of the Science Olympiad that run from team building events to team mental skill set events. If you love science or are just interested in learning more, this is the club for you. There is something for everyone. This is a student-led club.
Meeting Times/Location: Thursdays 8:05 am and 3:45 pm
Membership Requirements: Members must pay dues.

Student Council

Description of Club: The student council helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for schoolwide activities, including social events, like our Winter Formal.
Meeting Times/Location: Every Tuesday morning at 8:05 am and afternoon until 4:00 pm in Mrs. Chaffin's room, 505.

Students Against Violence Everywhere

Description of Club: SAVE club (Students Against Violence Everywhere) is a national club associated with the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. SAVE empowers a diverse group of student leaders to prevent violence in our school community and build connectedness. We do this through community outreach opportunities as well as by promoting, modeling, and reinforcing the essential principles of Start With Hello and Say Something in order to reduce social isolation and develop a conducive community of learners.
Meeting Times/Location: Announcements will be made ahead of time regarding meetings. Meetings will be 8 am on Friday mornings in room 418. Be sure to listen for announcements as SAVE does not meet weekly.
Membership Requirements: Save club is open to everyone.
How to Sign Up: It's easy to join. Just come to a meeting, participate in any club activity or talk to a club member or faculty advisor.

Writing Club
Ashley Diaz and Jeff Lipack
Description of Club: The Parkwood Creative Writing Club is a place for writers to come together and read, revise, share and create stories, poems, essays, and any other form of writing out there. Students work together to curate the Ink and Quill-- an online journal for students to submit to and display their creative work. This is a place for students from all walks of life to come and share their stories (both figuratively and literally).
Meeting Times/Location: Every other Thursday in Rooms 727 or 723
Membership Requirements: Up to current members and subject to change each year. The most important requirement is making it to at least 3/4 of meetings.
