Dr. Tracy Strickland (Principal)
About Dr. Strickland
While this will be Dr. Strickland’s first year as principal at Parkwood High School, this is not her first year of service to the school community. From 2005-2010, Dr. Strickland taught Spanish at Parkwood High. Dr. Strickland left Parkwood to pursue opportunities in administration and leadership at UCPS. She served four years as principal at Piedmont Middle School and two years as the Director of Student Support. She feels that returning to Parkwood High School is like “coming home.”
Dr. Strickland has had many diverse life opportunities as the daughter of missionaries as well as the wife of a minister. Growing up, she lived in Costa Rica and Venezuela. Since marrying, she has lived and taught in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Charleston Southern University, her Master of Arts from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, and her Doctorate from Liberty University.
Dr. Strickland has been married to Steve for 30 years. He is the Middle School Pastor at Indian Trail First Baptist Church. The Stricklands have two children: Vassar and Mathis. Vassar is married to MacKenzie and they live in Gibsonville, NC. Vassar serves in the United States Army National Guard and MacKenzie is an elementary teacher in Guilford County. Mathis is finishing his last year at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, pursuing a major in business with a minor in entrepreneurial studies. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new adventures both locally and abroad, running, and reading.
