About Mrs. Starnes

Mrs. Amanda Starnes is in her first year as principal of Piedmont Middle School.

Mrs. Starnes is a proud 2004 graduate of Piedmont High School. She received the North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After teaching for two years in a nearby district, she returned to her alma mater in 2010 and taught in the Science department at Piedmont High for 12 years before accepting the Assistant Principal position. She has completed a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership through Gardner Webb University as well as a Master of Arts in Science Education through East Carolina University.

Mrs. Starnes is married to her husband, Kevin, and they have two sons who are actively involved in sports. Mrs. Starnes enjoys spending time with her family and raising her boys in the community that she grew up in. She has a true heart for the Piedmont community and is proud to be a team member at such a wonderful school.

Dr. Lindsey Harvey (Assistant Principal)
About Dr. Harvey

After serving Piedmont Middle and Piedmont High as Culture Coach, Lindsey Harvey joined Piedmont Middle School in 2021 as assistant principal. Dr. Weycker earned her undergraduate degree in English at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also holds a Master of Arts in School Administration and an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner Webb University.

Prior to joining the Piedmont cluster, Dr. Weycker served as an English teacher at Cuthbertson High School. She has 17 years experience as a teacher leader in North Carolina Public Schools.

Dr. Weycker lives in Union County with her family. She enjoys traveling, supporting her kids’ sports teams, and serving the community with her local church.
