This is Principal Eley with this week’s announcements.
This past week has brought some new changes with the launching of our remote learning through CANVAS. Each teacher has been encouraged to provide no more than 60 minutes of work per week for each content course. In addition, we have suggested a schedule for students to follow in order to best manage their time from home. Students can focus on 1st and 2nd block classes on Mondays and Wednesdays while Tuesdays and Thursdays can be for focusing on 3rd and 4th block classes. On Fridays, teachers are holding office hours to help work with students and parents as needed.
If your student has not yet logged into CANVAS and checked his/her assignments, please encourage him/her to do so. We have had several questions about the requirement of this material and I do want to assure you that teachers are providing review material to students. This material is available to all, but required by none. We are working to ensure that students and teachers are all able to access the material through CANVAS, and for those students who need tech support or hardware, we are working with those families to get those items to them. It is very important that your student participates in remote learning now, so he/she can work through any potential issues if/when we transition to new, graded material. If you have questions, please reach out to your student’s teachers.
Also, if there are other needs you can still call the school number and leave a voicemail. These messages are being checked daily by our staff from home and sent to staff as necessary.
For all 8th grade families expecting a refund from the canceled DC trip, please know that we are still working with our hotel and museums to acquire additional refunds. As you can imagine, businesses are shut down across the country, making this process extremely delayed. We will continue to communicate updates to you as we have them.

If you have a problem creating a help desk ticket, please send an email to his or her first block teacher. The teacher will put in a help desk ticket for our desktop engineer who will either correct the issue remotely or contact the teacher with a solution.
Canvas Instruction and Review
Beginning Wednesday, April 1st, our teachers will be sharing review materials and instruction through the Canvas platform. We have developed a schedule that will help students organize their time on each course as well as allow for teachers to be available for students who may need additional supports.
