Cassie Eley is in her fifth year as principal at Piedmont Middle School. Dr. Eley earned her undergraduate degree in English and education from Wingate University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, Educational Specialist degree, and an Educational Doctorate.
Prior to joining Piedmont Middle School, Dr. Eley served as principal of grades 3-5 at Walter Bickett Elementary School. She also served as an assistant principal at Parkwood High School and an English teacher at Forest Hills High School.
Dr. Eley is married to Mark and they have two children, Silas and Leighton. Dr. Eley is originally from Union County and graduated from Forest Hills High School. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, painting and traveling.
Mrs. Shannon Long is the assistant principal of Piedmont Middle School. Prior to her current role, Mrs. Long was Assistant Principal in 2018 at Marvin Ridge Middle School. Mrs. Long began her teaching career in Sanford, North Carolina as an English Teacher at Lee County Senior High School. From there, she moved to Charlotte, where she taught and coached at EE Waddell High School and Independence High School. After leaving the classroom, Mrs. Long served as an assistant principal at East Rowan in Salisbury, North Carolina and Marvin Ridge High School. Prior to stepping into administration, Mrs. Long worked at Porter Ridge High School as an English teacher and served as the department chair.
Mrs. Long obtained her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University and received her administrative credentials from Wingate University and will soon begin working toward her Doctorate.
Mrs. Long is married to Matt Long, who teaches at Porter Ridge Middle School. The two have three children whom they adore and enjoy spending time with. Mrs. Long enjoys traveling, playing and attending sporting events, and spending time with her family.
After serving Piedmont Middle and Piedmont High as Culture Coach, Lindsey Harvey joined Piedmont Middle School in 2021 as assistant principal. Dr. Weycker earned her undergraduate degree in English at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also holds a Master of Arts in School Administration and an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner Webb University.
Prior to joining the Piedmont cluster, Dr. Weycker served as an English teacher at Cuthbertson High School. She has 17 years experience as a teacher leader in North Carolina Public Schools.
Dr. Weycker lives in Union County with her family. She enjoys traveling, supporting her kids’ sports teams, and serving the community with her local church.
