  • Mr. Spencer’s phone message to Shiloh families on 8/17/18:

Hello Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few announcements. First, I want to thank you for your support of our Read-A-Thon! At the time of this message, Shiloh has raised over $7,000 for our Read-A-Thon after only 5 days! This is fantastic! Remember that for the Read-A-Thon, students are reading for 10 school days for 10-30 minutes daily, as determined by their grade levels. The money raised will help us to put more books in the hands of students in all grades, support tutors, provide enrichment sessions offered during our breaks, and provide overall support to each homeroom teacher. While sending donations is optional, all students will participate in the reading portion of the fundraiser. The fundraiser will end on August 28, and we are hoping to reach our school goal of $20,000. Thank you again for being such a supportive school community.

The Girl Scouts will hold informational meetings for parents on Tuesday, August 21 at 6:30 PM at Shiloh.

Please note that Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, August 22.

Thursday, August 23 will be an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 11. Buses will run and lunches will be served. Please have afternoon transportation plans in place for your children.

Students will not have school on Friday, August 24 as it is a Teacher Work Day.

Finally, the Boy Scouts will hold informational rallies for students during the day on Monday, August 27 and the parent informational sessions will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 6:30 at Shiloh.

Thank you again, and have a good night.

  • Shiloh’s Read-A-Thon fundraiser will begin August 14 and go until August 28!

We are raising money for our school to support our literacy efforts. We want to put books in the hands of our students, and also have available funds to pay for support personnel who can work with our students to improve their literacy skills. Additionally, we would like to be able to provide incentives and rewards for students who meet their personal goals for reading. As we tell our students, "The more you read, the more you'll know!" Information is being sent home with students on August 10 and August 13 to further explain the fundraiser. Please contact us for any questions. Thank you!

  • Shiloh families- Please remember that we do not have early dismissals between 1:30-2:00, as this is disruptive to the end of our day. As stated in the Shiloh student agenda, “On the RARE occasion that a student must leave school during the day (e.g. dentist appointment), a note should be sent to the teacher in advance. For your child’s protection, a student WILL NOT be permitted to school before the regular dismissal time of 2:00 PM unless the parent comes to the school and clears the dismissal with the office. In such cases it is necessary for the parent of guardian to sign the child’s name and his/her name in the office for early dismissals.” Thank you in advance as work each day to have safe and orderly dismissals for our student population of nearly 600 students.

  • Mr. Spencer’s phone message to Shiloh families 7/20/18:

Hello Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few reminders. First, I want to thank all of you for a fantastic Open House yesterday for grades 1-5. It was great to see so many returning Shiloh families and also to meet our new families. Please remember that our Kindergarten Open House will be from 4-5 PM on July 27.

Monday, July 23 will be the first day of school for our students. Kindergarten students will attend one day of school between July 23-26 as part of our Staggered Entry process. Please contact the office if you are unsure of your Kindergartener's Staggered Entry day.

Please remember that our tardy bell rings at 7:30 and our teachers begin their morning instruction at 7:15. Parents, if you will be driving your children to school, we ask that you leave plenty of time in the mornings so that you can have your children here on time. Please do not pass other cars while in the car rider line as this presents a safety issue for students, staff, and other parents. In the afternoon car rider line, please remain in your vehicles and you will pull up to designated spots to pick up your child.

Students will walk themselves to class each morning beginning the week of August 13. Thank you for your cooperation, as this helps to foster independence in our students.

Please be sure our teachers are absolutely clear on how your child will go home each day. Transportation changes must be in writing, and if we do not receive a change of transportation, students will be sent home their normal way. We do not take transportation changes verbally from students.

In the coming days, your child will receive a student agenda. Parents, the student agenda is our main means of communication. Please be sure to check the agenda each night for important information.

I want to remind our students who ride buses that we expect appropriate behavior on the buses so that our drivers can transport our students safely to and from school. Mrs. Aldredge and I will visit every class over the next few days, and we will discuss bus expectations with all classes.

Parents, please help to ensure that your children do not bring toys or other inappropriate items to school, as they are distractions to the learning environment.

Remember that our school supply lists are posted on our website. In addition to information posted on the Shiloh website and school sign, please be sure to follow us on e-news, Twitter, and Facebook for important daily updates and information.

We have the best PTA around, and we encourage all of you to join our PTA. Please contact us if you are interested. Our PTA does so much for our school, and I want to thank them in advance for their on-going and strong support.

I want to send a special thanks to the Shiloh staff. They have been working so hard and with a strong sense of purpose over the past few weeks to get this new school year up and running. If you have not worked in a school, I cannot stress to you how much work is involved with opening a new year, and I truly thank our staff for their teamwork and commitment.

In closing, please know how excited we are to begin the new school year. I look forward to maintaining the positive relationships we have with our entire school community. We know we have the best students, staff, and parents around! Through collaboration, student leadership, goal setting, and empowerment we will continue to maintain our high standards of academic excellence.

Thank you, and have a good night.

  • Shiloh parents: This is a reminder to not pass cars while you are in our car rider line. Unless you are directed to do so by a Shiloh staff member, please do not pass cars while in our car rider line as this presents a safety concern for our students and other visitors to our campus. Also, while waiting in our afternoon car rider line, please do not park on the crosswalk that is located as you turn off the side road and make the left into our parking lot.
