  • Mr. Spencer’s phone message to Shiloh families on March 22, 2019:

Good evening Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few announcements. First, congratulations to our 3rd-5th graders for making it to the Elite 8 in the UCPS Books and Brackets reading competition! This is fantastic news! I am so proud of all the reading that our students have been doing, and equally thankful for the work our teachers have been putting into this as well. Our teachers have come up with creative and exciting ways to work in reading during the day. Thank you parents as well for your support. Final 4- here we come!

Here are a few items in advance for you. Please note that progress reports will go home on April 10. Our annual field day will take place on Friday, April 12. Finally, Shiloh's two week spring break will take place during the weeks of April 15 and 22. That means that after dismissal on Friday, April 12, students at Shiloh will not return to school again until Monday, April 29.

Thank you and have a good night.

  • At the March 5 Union County Public Schools Board of Education meeting, the new school model for Shiloh and Sun Valley Elementary Schools was approved. As discussed in our previous meetings with our school community, this model will take effect for the 2019-20 school year. Under this model, Shiloh Elementary School will move to the Traditional Calendar. Sun Valley Elementary School will become our Pre-K through 2nd building and Shiloh Elementary will become our 3rd-5th grade building. We understand and respect that you may have questions about next year, including the bell schedules and transportation plan. We are in the initial planning phases for those items and will provide periodic updates to our school community as that information is available. We will also provide information in the coming weeks about possible summer enrichment programs. We appreciate all of your feedback and input during this process. We look forward to being better together!

  • Shiloh families- Please remember that we do not have early dismissals between 1:30-2:00, as this is disruptive to the end of our day. As stated in the Shiloh student agenda, “On the RARE occasion that a student must leave school during the day (e.g. dentist appointment), a note should be sent to the teacher in advance. For your child’s protection, a student WILL NOT be permitted to school before the regular dismissal time of 2:00 PM unless the parent comes to the school and clears the dismissal with the office. In such cases it is necessary for the parent of guardian to sign the child’s name and his/her name in the office for early dismissals.” Thank you in advance as work each day to have safe and orderly dismissals for our student population of nearly 600 students.
