Announcements

  • Mr. Spencer’s phone message to Shiloh families on May 25, 2018:

Hello Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few announcements. Today, May 25, is our last day of school and I want to begin by thanking all of you for a great school year. 2017-18 was an awesome year due to the support from all of our parents. We know we have the best students around, so I also want to thank our students for being so wonderful throughout the year. Lastly, I want to send a special thanks to the entire Shiloh staff. I am finishing my 7th year as the principal here, and I continue to be amazed by the dedication shown by our staff. They go above and beyond in everything they do each day. This staff is so caring and kind hearted that anyone of them would literally give their last dollar if it meant that they would be helping a child. I have seen so many acts of kindness towards our students and families that this staff has done over the years, most of them unknown by others, and they never cease to amaze me with their dedication.

If you will be returning to Shiloh next year, we can't wait to see you back here on July 23. If you are leaving our school, then I certainly wish you the very best and I am glad that you had this time to spend with us. I send a special send-off to our 5th graders. Good luck in middle school next year, and we all look forward to hearing about the great things that you will accomplish as you move through your lives.

Thank you again to everyone for a successful year. I wish everyone a safe and relaxing summer. Please enjoy your time with family and friends, and also remember to find time to read. Thank you again, and have a good night.

  • Mr. Spencer’s phone message to Shiloh families on 4/27/18:

Hello Shiloh families, this is Mr. Spencer with a few announcements. First, I want to thank everyone for a great Field Day today! The weather was great and all the students had a fantastic time. Thanks again to Mr. Roy for organizing Field Day, and special thanks to all the staff members and parent volunteers who assisted with the day. Our students really enjoyed themselves and I enjoyed watching them at the various rotations.

Our Girls on the Run team will participate in their annual Spring 5K tomorrow, April 28, at 8 AM in Lake Park. Best of luck to the girls, and thanks to all the coaches and parents for your support.

Thanks to our 3rd grade team and to all students and families for participating in the Change for a Change fundraiser to raise money for digging wells in Uganda. We are so excited that our school donated over $800 towards this important cause!

The UCPS Parent Survey window has been extended to May 4. Please be sure to complete the survey, as your feedback is important to us. All responses are anonymous. We sent letters home about the survey that contained your child's PowerSchool ID number, which is needed to access the survey. If you need that number again, please contact the office. The survey is located under the “Announcements” section of our website.

Remember that our 3rd-5th graders will take their End of Grade assessments during the 3rd week of May. Reading will be given on May 15, Math will be given on May 16, and 5th grade Science will be given on May 17. Please make sure that your child is in school and on time on testing days. Tardy students in any grade levels are disruptive to our testing environment. Thank you in advance to all parents who have offered to assist with testing.

Our Kindergarten End of Year promotion ceremony will take place at 8 AM in the gym on May 24, and our 5th grade promotion ceremony will take place on May 25 in the gym at 8 AM. May 25 is also the last day of school for our students. There are many more important end of year activities, but those are ones I wanted to be sure to remind you of. Please contact your child's teacher for specific questions about end of year activities.

Thank you and have a good night.

  • Shiloh parents: This is a reminder to not pass cars while you are in our car rider line. Unless you are directed to do so by a Shiloh staff member, please do not pass cars while in our car rider line as this presents a safety concern for our students and other visitors to our campus. Also, while waiting in our afternoon car rider line, please do not park on the crosswalk that is located as you turn off the side road and make the left into our parking lot. Parking on the crosswalk presents a safety issue for our families who are walking. Thank you for your assistance with these safety issues.
