Our mission is that we commit to the lifelong success of our students by providing academic and innovative leadership opportunities.  That is referenced in the first paragraph. Welcome to Shiloh Valley Elementary School!  The Shiloh Valley staff and school community are all members of a historical, proud, and successful public school in Union County.  The first Shiloh School was built in approximately 1917. It was a one-room building heated by a large fireplace. Approximately eighty students attended school there. The older students would cut wood each morning before starting their studies.

A century later, Shiloh Valley Elementary continues to flourish. The school celebrated its 100th year during the 2017–18 school year. Over the years, four new schools were constructed as Shiloh Elementary grew and relocated. In 1992, the current home site of Shiloh Elementary was built on Rogers Road. We are proud of our identity, as a community of learners, and as a school centered on continuous improvement. We respect the great amount of responsibility that comes along with educating the children of our community. We know that students attending Shiloh Valley are in the right place at the right time, and we are helping to pave the road to their future success.

Shiloh Valley reached its peak enrollment of 1,264 students during the 2007–2008 school year. The following year, a new elementary school was built and enrollment was cut in half.

As Shiloh Valley moves further into the 21st century, all the classrooms are equipped with HDMI TVs. Laptops and laptop carts are available for class/student use, and students converse with peers from various countries via the internet.

We value our school community, and we welcome the input and assistance from our parents and school volunteers. Parents are always welcome to participate in school-based activities. We value classroom volunteers as well as our PTA members. Our teachers are often looking for parents to assist with leading after-school clubs. Parents are welcome to attend our evening events, volunteer their time as proctors during state testing, and to accompany their children on field trips. Shiloh Valley is proud to have been designated a US National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education in 1999 and in 2013. The school has also won an extensive list of state awards for academic excellence over the past two decades. For example, we were named a UCPS International School from 2011-15, and we were most recently named a North Carolina PBIS Model School for the 2016-17 school year! To support our PBIS program, our library offers approximately 150 titles.

Shiloh Valley continues to embrace an increasingly diverse community as our school is represented by students and staff from at least 16 different countries. Shiloh proudly embraces global education and currently hosts Spanish immersion classes at all grade levels. We are one of three original UCPS schools to host a full dual language immersion program. Our library also offers about 900 Spanish titles.

Shiloh Valley's parents and stakeholders continue to play a crucial role in the progress and success of Shiloh Elementary.  The administration, teachers, teacher assistants, and all staff work together to maintain our high expectations for all students. We work to instill leadership in our students to help them set and achieve goals for success. Through high expectations, we are preparing our students to be globally-minded and responsible learners. To this day, Shiloh Valley Elementary lives up to its vision of “Empowering an innovative community of leaders.”
