Fast Facts about Unionville Elementary

  • Milestones

    • 1885  Union Institute was founded.Photo of Unionville Entrance
    • 1886  Professor Oliver C. Hamilton was hired.
    • 1890 Original building was expanded. 
    • 1910 School was sold to County Board of Education and renamed Unionville High School.
    • 1917  Original building burned and was replaced with a two story wooden building.
    • 1936  New, brick school building for Unionville High School was completed.
    • 1949  Unionville Barbecue began.
    • 1960 Unionville became an elementary school with 8 grades.  Sixth through eighth later placed in middle school. 
    • 1985 Unionville celebrated its centennial.
    • 1993 Current school building was completed.
    • 2008 Completion of new traffic pattern drive and parent parking lot.
    • 2011 Welcomed our first VIF teacher from England
    • 2012 SPLASH (Spanish Immersion) Program began.
    • 2014 Office Renovation - conference room
    • 2015 Gym Renovation - new bleachers
    • 2016 Media Center Renovation
    • 2017 Added new outdoor classroom

    • Odyssey of the Mind Teams:  Competed and Received Honors at Regional Competition  1996-2008, 2010-2013. Odyssey of the Mind Teams qualified for World Finals 2005-2008 and 2010-2013. In our history, 26 teams have qualified at regionals for the state tournament. Since 2005, Unionville has had 15 teams to advance to World Finals. In 2012-2013, Unionville's "The Email Must Go Through" Team took First Place earning the honor of World Finals Champion.
