Good evening, Weddington High School families. This is principal Jay Jones with an important request for all WHS students. At this time, the main forms of communication between teachers and students are Canvas and UCPS email. It is imperative for all Weddington High School students to check their UCPS student email accounts on a regular basis. Teachers have sent and will continue to send critical information to students via email during the time of school closure. We appreciate your collaboration. Have a nice evening.

Good evening, Weddington High School families. This is principal Jay Jones with some important information. First, this is a request for all parents to ensure that we have your updated email address in our PowerSchool system. Teachers have indicated that we've had several bounce-backs with email messages sent out to families. If you believe that we may have an outdated email address for you, please email our administrative assistant Ms. Janice Bowers with the updated email address. Her email address is as follows: firstname.lastname@example.org. Secondly, in case you missed it, UCPS has pushed out a collection of remote learning opportunities for students. This list is available on the Union County Public Schools website through the Explore tab on the left side of the UCPS website. After clicking Explore, click the Parents button, and then the EmpowerED Family Portal button. There you will find the Remote Learning Opportunities for Students button. Student participation with these resources is completely optional, but parents are indeed encouraged to keep students academically active through the use of these or other resources. Please note that our school system is continuing to hammer out the final details of the more formalized district-wide framework for remote teaching-and-learning. This information will be pushed out to families soon. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out to one of your child's teachers or one of the WHS administrators with any questions. On behalf of the Weddington High School faculty and staff, I send each of you and your loved ones wishes of health and security. Take care.

WHS Parents,As many of you know, Canvas is the primary learning management system (LMS) at Weddington High School and in the Union County Public Schools. In the weeks ahead, we will be utilizing Canvas in our efforts with online teaching-and-learning. When we begin to provide students with online learning opportunities, which won't be until next week at the earliest, it will be extremely helpful and informative for parents to be Canvas course observers. This will allow a parent to stay updated on what kinds of things are happening with the courses that his/her child is taking. You will find a document attached to this email message which details instructions on how to set up a Canvas observer account. If you have any questions about this process, please contact assistant principal Mrs. Marni Menkin (email@example.com) or media coordinator Mrs. Anna Waldrup (firstname.lastname@example.org). Click here for the document on how to create observer accounts.
