UCPS has updated the Parent Checklist with important information regarding:
Please pay close attention to the section on meal charges, as high school students will now only be able to charge up to $19.25. Once they have reached that balance, they will be unable to accrue any additional charges. They will instead be served an alternate meal provided at no cost.
With school starting next week, our students and families will now also notice significant changes regarding cell phone use at school. State policy now prohibits students from using, displaying, or having any wireless communication devices on during the instructional day. Students will be asked to have devices turned off and kept in backpacks or placed in storage containers/calculator holders within classrooms. There are some exceptions in which administrators or teachers could authorize use, including emergency or health management situations, or when there is a legitimate educational function.
High school students may use their devices during class changes and at lunch provided such use does not violate the standards of the Code of Conduct.
Disciplinary consequences for unauthorized use include the following:
Failure to obey the request of a school staff member to hand over a cell phone or electronic device will be considered insubordination.
Parents, please assist us in explaining this policy change clearly to our students as we know it is a significant change from the past.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education.Parent Checklist
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, it is essential that we have a complete and up to date health information for all of our WHS Students. Having this information will help guide us in the health and safety of your child while here at school. Attached here you will find the request for health information form. We kindly ask that you fill it out and return it to Nurse Penny. Thank you!
Summer Reading: View all summer reading requirements for Honors English and AP English courses.
Open House/Orientation Information: This year, all grade levels will be attending Open House/Orientation on Thursday, August 21st, following the schedule below:
The Open House/Orientation is an opportunity in which students from all grade levels can walk their schedule, gain insight on transportation, purchase school gear from the Booster Club, learn more about lunches and the cafeteria, and meet members of our PTSO board. This is a DROP-IN event and there will be no formal program. Students and parents are welcome to stop by anytime during the Open House/Orientation time frame. Freshman students who are unable to attend from 9:00am – 11:00am are welcome to stop by during the Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Open House/Orientation which takes place from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
Students who have been approved for a parking pass may pick this up during orientation. Also, we will have staff members and student representatives across the building to assist students in finding their classes and answering questions.
New Online Payment System: Union County Schools is changing their online school payment provider from OSP to SchoolCash Online. SchoolCash Online is a secure way to pay for school activities, field trips, spirit wear, etc. using Visa, Mastercard, Check, and Apple Pay (coming soon). We encourage all parents to register now, so you'll be ready to receive email notifications when fees are added to your student's account and make online payments as schools begin to add school items to the online catalog.
