Katelyn Lustig (Principal)
About Mrs. Lustig
Katelyn Lustig was named principal of Indian Trail Elementary at the June 2022 Board of Education meeting.
Mrs. Lustig is a native of New Hampshire, but has called the Indian Trail area home since 2006. Mrs. Lustig earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University and immediately began teaching third grade at Sun Valley Elementary School. Throughout her time there, Mrs. Lustig was recognized as a Fox 46 Teacher Getting Results and was awarded teacher of the year for the 2017-2018 school year.
Several years later, she became an Instructional Coach for Union County Public Schools, where she had the opportunity to support district-wide initiatives, develop curriculum, and partner with teachers to help improve instructional practices. Mrs. Lustig earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wingate University and was formerly the assistant principal at Indian Trail Elementary.
Mrs. Lustig resides in Indian Trail with her husband Dylan, son Jackson, and rescue dog Henry. She is an avid New England sports fan and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling,and exploring the great outdoors.
Mrs. Lustig is committed to making a difference in the school she serves and always looks to enrich the learning experience for all students. She believes in the potential in every student to be prepared for the future and values strong community relationships.

Kelsey Kukor (Assistant Principal)
About Ms. Kukor
Ms. Kukor is an enterprising leader and lifelong learner. She resides in Wesley Chapel with her family and rescue puppy, Pearl. She is a multi-sports fan and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, baking, and crafting.
Ms. Kukor is originally from Ohio, however she has lived within the Union County borders since 2003. Ms. Kukor earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and immediately began teaching third grade at Prospect Elementary School. Throughout her time there, Ms. Kukor taught both First and Third Grade as well as served on the Superintendent's Advisory Committee as well as the Sitebased Chairperson for PES and Volleyball coach for Parkwood Middle and High Schools.
Several years later, she was selected by Union County Public Schools for the Principal Fellows Program with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she completed a one-year Principals Internship at Weddington Middle School and earned a master’s degree in School Administration.
Ms. Kukor was named assistant principal of Indian Trail Elementary at the June 2023 Board of Education meeting.
