Welcome to Sardis Elementary School! Sardis is a PreK-5th grade Title 1 Elementary School located near Monroe and Indian Trail in Union County, North Carolina. The school serves approximately 590 students. The student population represents the diverse and growing community where it is located. Sardis’ mission statement is as follows:
“Sardis school is a safe community where a strong foundation for life-long learning is achieved by nurturing, guiding, and challenging our students through a balanced academic and arts education.”
To fulfill the vision of our stakeholders which is to: Ensure all students are equipped to succeed in college, career and life and to reduce gaps in student achievement…Sardis has set HIGH EXPECTATIONS that emphasize the following:
- Focus on the Four Cs of Education: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking
- STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics
- Student-centered data-driven instruction

Kevin Beals (Principal)
About Mr. Beals
Mr. Kevin Beals was raised in southern New Hampshire until he moved to North Carolina in 2006. Mr. Beals earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of New Hampshire, and his Master’s Degree in Teaching Mathematics from Rivier College. He has been an educator since 1992. He worked for 11 years in education in NH, including five years with Special Education students, and for six years as a middle school teacher. In 2006, Mr. Beals and his family moved to Union County where he resumed his teaching career at Sun Valley Middle School. After earning his license for School Administration, he transitioned to the role of Assistant Principal at SVMS in 2011. Then, in 2015, Union County Public Schools granted Mr. Beals a transfer to Sardis Elementary as an Assistant Principal. After serving at Sardis for nearly three years, Mr. Beals was named Interim Principal to close out the 2017-2018 school year. Shortly thereafter, he was given the incredible opportunity to lead Sardis as Principal.
Mr. Beals has been married to his wife, Randi, for 15 years and together they have 3 children that attend school in UCPS. Mr. Beals enjoys coaching baseball and basketball and can often be found on the field or court when not at school. Mr. Beals is honored to work with the faculty, students, parents, and all stakeholders of this great school community.

Kelly Frycz (Assistant Principal)
About Mrs. Frycz
Mrs. Kelly Frycz was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she lived until she moved to North Carolina in 2004. Mrs. Frycz earned her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Bethany College in 1996, her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Point Park University in 2000, and her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wingate University in 2015. Mrs. Frycz started her education career in the North Hills School District, outside of Pittsburgh, PA assisting 4th-6th grade Special Education students. In 2004, Mrs. Frycz began working at Wingate Elementary in UCPS where she served as a fifth-grade teacher, a second-grade teacher and then moved into the role of K-5 Math Curriculum Coach for her last three remaining years there. In 2014, Mrs. Frycz transferred to Sardis Elementary as the curriculum and instructional coach for grades 3, 4, and 5. She served in this position for three years. During the 2017-2018 school year, Mrs. Frycz taught third grade Math and STEM in Cabarrus County Schools. In August of 2018, Ms. Frycz returned to UCPS and the Sardis Elementary community as the assistant principal.
Mrs. Frycz has been married since 2019. She and her husband, Steve enjoy playing with their very large, mixed-breed dog, Dexter. She also enjoys walking and time spent on the lake and at the beach. Mrs. Frycz is extremely honored to serve in a leadership role at Sardis.
