Union County has been declared a disaster county by USDA and NCDHHS. Social Services will operate a Disaster Food Stamps program beginning Monday 10/22 through Tuesday 10/30. Hours will be 8am-5pm during the week and 9am-5pm on Saturday 10/27. You may qualify for 1 month of food stamps if you had damage, food loss, or disaster related expenses from Hurricane Florence. *Current food stamps recipients are not eligible for this program.* Applications will be taken at the Human Services Center (DSS) 2330 Concord Avenue. Please park in the staff parking lot on the Hwy 601N (Concord Hwy) side and enter the building. Lines may be long. Please prepare for this by bringing anything you may need throughout the day, including medicine.
