Destiny is the K-12 library management system for UCPS. It provides a visually appealing and highly graphic online searching experience where students can conduct a single search and have appropriate results (books, websites, database articles, DVDs, etc. returned in one list.) The CultureGrams Online Database is a leading reference for concise, reliable, and up-to-date cultural information on countries across the globe. It includes four editions: the World Edition (for junior high school and up) and the Kids, States, and Canadian Provinces editions (for upper elementary school students). Points of View Reference Center™ is a full-text database designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. The database provides more than 280 topics, each with an overview (objective background/description), point (argument), counterpoint (opposing argument), and Critical Thinking Guide. ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, contains more than 1.3 million records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966. For best results, when logging in from home log in through NCWiseOwl, click "high school", then click "EBSCO". This an online collection of K-12 multimedia author and book resources. This site includes access to magazine databases; Grolier Online, reference e-books, literary criticism in Scribners' Writers and many other useful research/writing tools. Britannica Online School Edition offers encyclopedias and related materials for students of all levels. Discovery Educations provides online video resources, but also includes images, clip art, sounds, encyclopedia articles, activities, and writing prompts. Other Databases Gale Primary Sources is an integrated research environment that allows users to search across all of their Gale primary source collections. Hosted through NCWiseOwl.

NC LIVE offers free electronic access to resources for all ages on topics ranging from careers, business, and investing, to health, history, and genealogy. Ebooks, audiobooks, videos, magazines, newspapers, journals, language-learning tools, and other online materials available through NC LIVE are designed for at-home use, and are available from any Internet connection via library websites, and through NCLIVE.org.
