Online Databases

  • *Home access to the databases requires a password and those are not available to the public.

    UCPS students can log in securely HERE to gain access to the database passwords, or ask a media center staff member or teacher for the passwords.

    Destiny is the K-12 library management system for UCPS. It provides a visually appealing and highly graphic online searching experience where students can conduct a single search and have appropriate results (books, websites, database articles, DVDs, etc. returned in one list.)

    The student reading app, by OverDrive provides the quickest and easiest way to get started with digital titles from the Digital Library. You can simply log in using your unique ID Number and Password and instantly access thousands of eBooks and audiobooks on virtually any device.

    The CultureGrams Online Database is a leading reference for concise, reliable, and up-to-date cultural information on countries across the globe. It includes four editions: the World Edition (for junior high school and up) and the Kids, States, and Canadian Provinces editions (for upper elementary school students).

    Britannica Online School Edition offers encyclopedias and related materials for students of all levels.   
    Discovery Education provides online video resources but also includes images, clip art, sounds, encyclopedia articles, activities, and writing prompts.  
    North Carolina’s Arts, Nature, History, Science, Libraries, and More! (NC Kids Digital Library, NCpedia, State Library of North Carolina, State Archives of NC, Digital Collections, Heritage Center, Museum of Art, NC Museum of History, NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and more.)  

    ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, contains more than 1.3 million records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966.

    This database must be accessed through the public library. Please check with the library for a username and password. 

    NC LIVE offers free electronic access to resources for all ages on topics ranging from careers, business, and investing, to health, history, and genealogy. Ebooks, audiobooks, videos, magazines, newspapers, journals, language-learning tools, and other online materials available through NC LIVE are designed for at-home use and are available from any Internet connection via library websites, and through NCLIVE.org.

    Union County Public Library Online Resources

    The Union County Public Library has a variety of online resources available to UCPS students and staff. Many do require a username and password. Students may contact Mrs. Williams for their login information.
