  • Poetry Out Loud winners

    Congratulations to all students who participated in CATA’s Poetry Out Loud school-wide competition Monday. 
    The following students were the winners: third place goes to Kaitlyn Speiser for her recitation of “Women Who Love Angels”, second place goes to Nikol Stoycheva for her recitation of “Learning to Love America” and CATA’s first place winner this year is Andrew Parker for his recitation of “Quite Frankly.”  All three of these students will advance to the county-wide competition in December.

  • Attention all CATA musicians:  Auditions for the band for the spring musical, Rock of Ages, will be after school on Wednesday, November 28th. We need guitar players, piano players, bass players, and drummers. Please see Mr. King in the recording studio for copies of music and more information.

  • Register to Volunteer in UCPS Schools
    The district has a new volunteer registration process. If you'd like to volunteer in any of the UCPS schools you must complete the volunteer registration form located at https://www.ucpsvolunteers.com. This even applies to people who had registered in previous years.

  • CATA alum, Hamilton performer returns to his high school to prepare students for the big stage

    CATA alum Tyler McKenzie has performed in the Broadway Hamilton and Mamma Mia stage productions and the Matilda the Musical national tour as well as the current 20-city national tour of the acclaimed hit Hamilton musical. Now, nearly 10 years after graduating from CATA, Tyler has returned to his alma mater to help guide the school's next generation of aspiring artists.

    October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Hands Helping Others Club recently hosted a fundraiser during all lunch periods this month from October 9 to October 19th.

  • CATA Starts Canine Club

    On Thursday October 4th the Canine Club had two very special visitors from the Union County Sheriff’s Department as guest speakers. Deputy Summey and his patrol canine, Darko, came to the meeting to talk to students about training dogs to work with the Sheriff’s Department and how canine vests can be used to help protect the dogs.
