International Baccalaureate

Union County Public Schools offers the International Pathway Program for 9th and 10th graders at Central Academy of Technology & Arts (CATA) and Marvin Ridge High and the IB Diploma Programme for 11th and 12th graders at Marvin Ridge High.
- Students living in the Marvin Ridge attendance area have access to the International Pathway Program and IB Diploma Programme at Marvin Ridge High School.
- Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, rising 9th graders in attendance areas other than Marvin Ridge have access to the International Pathway Program and IB Diploma Programme at Central Academy of Technology and Arts.

International Pathway Program (Grades 9-10)
Students will take all honors-level courses (when available) to meet prerequisites for entry into the IB Diploma Programme.
- Open to all rising 9th grade students currently enrolled in a UCPS middle school.
- Eligible students selected via a lottery process conducted via the Scribbles online application system.
- Requirements at time of application:
- Passing all 7th grade classes and semester one 8th grade classes.
- Average of 80% across core classes (language arts, math, science and social studies) at the end of 7th grade and semester one of 8th grade.
- No long-term suspensions.

IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12)
The Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum consists of six subject areas and the DP core. The DP core includes the theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service and the extended essay. All courses are offered at the college level.
- Students who have successfully completed the IB Pathway Program are eligible to enroll in the IB Diploma Programme.
