• Parkwood AFJROTC normally participates in two drill competitions each semester - one local and one regional - for a total of at least four annually. In both semesters, the local competition is the Union County JROTC Championship Games between Air Force JROTC units at Parkwood, Monroe, and Piedmont/Porter Ridge and the Navy JROTC units at Forest Hills and Sun Valley and the Weddington Marine Corps JROTC.

    The regional competitions are the 49er Classic at UNC-Charlotte (fall), hosted by that school's Air Force ROTC, and the Patriot Classic (spring) at Independence High School in Charlotte. About 25 of the best drill teams from the Carolinas attend these regional meets, and competition is fierce.
