• Ms. Ebony Brown Robinson

    Mrs. Brown-Robinson is a licensed school counselor who has been a part of the Cavaliers counseling department since 2022. She attended Rutgers University (Camden campus) where she earned a BA in the Arts. She worked at Kipp Whittier Middle school in Camden, NJ for 6 years as a History teacher, before earning her Master's degree in counseling from Wilmington University in Delaware.   

    In her spare time, Mrs. Brown loves to spend time with her family. She loves a good TV show and snacks. If she is not in front of the TV, she is reading a book or watching one of her children’s sporting events. She looks forward to getting to know her students this year.

    Ms. Kelly Mills

    Mrs. Mills is a licensed school counselor who has been a part of the Cavaliers counseling department since 2019. She attended California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and her K-12 Teaching Credential. She also has a Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling.  Mrs. Mills comes from a family of educators, four generations deep.  She has taught grades K-8, both in the classroom and as a virtual teacher.  She has found her passion in educational counseling and has been a school counselor for the past 13 years. 

    In her spare time, Mrs. Mills loves to spend time with her family, friends and pug, Maggie. She loves the beach, watching her kids play sports, reading, and being part of the Cavalier Family.

    Ms. Debbie Morton

    Mrs. Morton officially joined the Cavalier family in 2012 as the facilitator for all online classes. In September 2021, she transitioned to the counseling center to be the registrar and secretary to the counselors. She loves her new position and brings a new energy to help make the counseling suite warm and welcoming. 

    Mrs. Morton’s first involvement with Cuthbertson dates back to the school’s opening when her older daughter, Emily, was a freshman. Graduating from Cuthbertson High in 2013, Emily attended Chapel Hill and now works for Ernst & Young as an auditor and lives with her husband in Apex, NC. Mrs. Morton’s younger daughter, Olivia, lives in Charlotte and works for Positec as an associate marketing manager of e-commerce, having graduated from Cuthbertson in 2016 and App State in 2020.

    Mrs. Morton and her husband, David, have been married for 31 years. They started their life together in Boston and moved to North Carolina in 2004. She has two golden retrievers that her family convinced her to get during, “Covid lockdown.” Harper and Ivy are the best, but still have trouble traveling in the car since they never went anywhere. 

    Originally from Dutchess County, New York, Mrs. Morton has always had a passion for education. After receiving her degree in elementary education, she taught kindergarten for six years before leaving teaching to have children. She loves to garden, being with family, kayaking, and doing New York Times crossword puzzles.

    Ms. Kacey Reder

    Mrs. Reder is a licensed school counselor who is new to the counseling department at Cuthbertson as of the summer of 2024.  She attended Winthrop University for her BA in Psychology and The University of North Carolina at Charlotte for her Master's degree in Counseling.  She has been a school counselor for 21 years in UCPS. She is so excited to be part of the Cavalier team!   

     

    In her spare time she loves to spend time with her husband and 2 children along with her 2 dogs. She loves being outside for long walks, kayaking, and gardening. Her favorite hobbies include baking and reading.

    Ms. Tara Plank-Alonzo

    Mrs. Plank-Alonzo is a licensed school counselor who has been a part of the Cavaliers counseling department since the fall of 2020. She attended Bowling Green State University and The University of Akron, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Social Studies Education. She worked at South Mecklenburg High School for 6 years as a World History teacher, before earning her Master's degree in counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mrs. Plank-Alonzo took special course work in counseling adolescents, crisis counseling, and grief and loss counseling. 

    In her spare time, Mrs. Plank-Alonzo loves to spend time with her husband Henry, family, friends, and her Rough Collie, Georgia May. She loves coffee, the beach, reading, and plants and is looking forward to another great year at CHS. 

    Mr. Jacob Ward

    Mr. Ward is a licensed professional school counselor who has been a member of the Cavaliers counseling department since 2021. He attended Wingate University where he double majored in Criminal Justice and Human Services. He worked for the Department of Social Services for 2 years before earning a Master’s Degree in counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

    In his spare time, Mr. Ward loves to spend time with family, friends, and playing golf. He also enjoys playing the guitar, video games, hiking, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Braves, and South Carolina Gamecocks. Mr. Ward is looking forward to another wonderful year at CHS.
