  • Internet Safety Presentation-Save the date: Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30 p.m. Porter Ridge Middle and High are excited to welcome Sergeant Rogers from the Union County Sheriff’s office to discuss social media and internet safety for teens.     Porter Ridge High School students and staff have been impacted by Puerto Rico’s devastation from Hurricane Maria that hit the island on Sept. 20th. Students and staff decided to find a way to help. One teacher who is from Puerto Rico and has family living there, Spanish teacher Maria Koonce, organized a drive for much needed items.

  • New kilns broaden arts education for UCPS students

    Nicole Crowley has worked as an art teacher in Porter Ridge schools for the past 12 years. And every single year, she always wished for one thing: a kiln for her Porter Ridge High art class that will provide her students with an opportunity to finally create artwork made of clay. So when she found out that her wish will finally come true this year, courtesy of donations from the Union County Community Arts Council (UCCAC), she said she was “ecstatic and beyond excited.”

    An important upcoming event for students is College Application Week. During the week of November 13th-17th 37 North Carolina colleges will allow students to apply for free!
