    Twelfth grade student Ginnie Van de Riet recently made her mark on uptown Charlotte. A line from her poem, “Eulogy for the Self," was featured as a part of the project Of Earth and Sky currently on display in Uptown.

  • New Assistant Band Director joins the Band of Pirates

    The Porter Ridge Band of Pirates gained a new assistant director over the summer, Patrick Foray. This is not Foray’s first time at PRHS as he was a student-teacher at PRHS and PRMS back in 2018.

  • AP Capstone Program

    Congratulations to our PRHS 2021 Capstone Diploma Recipients and our 2021 Capstone Certificate Recipients. We are excited to announce that 11 of our students earned the diploma and 6 earned the certificate. This is AMAZING for the first cohort of students and is representative of the rigorous body of college level work that our students completed!

  • Graduate Named McRae Scholar

    Ziyanah-Grace Alexander from Indian Trail, North Carolina, is a graduate of Porter Ridge High School. She is a two-year member of the Porter Ridge Student Council and is involved in the National Honor Society and Beta Club. As part of her AP coursework, she conducted research on the motivations behind why people choose plastic bags over paper bags at grocery stores, and she hopes to continue environmental research as part of UNC Asheville’s seminal Undergraduate Research Program.

  • PreACT Oct. 20th

    Attention all sophomores, you will be taking the PreACT on Wednesday, October 20th. This is a great way to prepare for the ACT as a junior. Please bring your own calculator that day.
