  • Union County JobReady Partnership is a non- profit organization that enhances school-to-work training for students of Union County Public Schools. JobReady strives to ensure a well-prepared workforce for area businesses by giving students the opportunity to obtain additional education and technical skills through outside-the- classroom experiences. JobReady focuses on what employers need today and what they will need in the future. The Partnership strengthens the links between the business and education communities by building alliances between students, employers, parents and community to effect change. JobReady is a partnership of volunteer members representing key leadership positions in business, education and government. JobReady relies on donations from businesses, individuals and foundations to provide all programming experiences.

    Curriculum & Industry Alliance

    Bring Local Industry Related Problem Solving Into Local Classrooms

    What is it?

    An opportunity for teachers to visit local industry and learn through direct experience about the company background, trends, skill requirements and opportunities in industry related to their subject in order to enrich and strengthen their teaching and bring relevance to student learning.

    Purpose:

    The purpose of a teacher externship is to engage in activities in business and industry, and/or service-based organizations, to learn how classroom content and learning strategies are applied in the workplace. Teachers improve their pedagogical practices by incorporating new methods, labor market information, and employment skills that meet current industry standards. The educational goal of an externship is to increase a teacher’s ability to connect theory and practice and bring an understanding of workplace practices and policies (e.g. problem solving methods, practical applications of theory, leadership concepts) into the classroom, thus increasing the relevance of student learning.
