What do you teach and why did you become a teacher?

I am a marketing CTE teacher and I specifically teach sports marketing and entrepreneurship. Teaching is my second profession. It is the best way to have a direct impact on young people and help shape our future.

How do you show your school spirit?

I'm a former cheerleader, so school spirit is everything! I love attending my students' extracurricular activities to let them know teaching goes beyond the classroom. I’m an avid sports fan, so you will definitely catch me at Weddington sporting events.

What or who inspires you?

People with unwavering faith and those that have attained goals despite multiple obstacles against them really inspire me. I really love a good growth and grit story. Oprah Winfrey is a true inspiration.

In which other teacher’s class would you like to enroll for a day? Why?

Susan Winfree. I have no clue about AP Chemistry, but she is such a lively individual, so I’d love to sit it on her lectures.

What is one of your hidden talents?

I am a speed reader!

If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?

Make time for your friends and family. Those relationships are the foundation of happiness.

What is a professional motto or quote that you “work” by?

Growth comes in the form of CONTINUOUS effort.

What do you enjoy most about working in Union County Public Schools?

I love the relationships I have built with coworkers. They are truly a second family!
