Emma Daniels (Porter Ridge High)
What is your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject in school is probably math. I’ve always had such good math teachers who made it enjoyable, and math has always been something I’m good at, which makes it more fun. I guess I just have a math brain, so I enjoy it a lot.
What's the coolest thing you've ever done in a school project or lesson?
The coolest thing was probably in AP World History during my sophomore year. We did a project where we traced our bodies on paper and used different body parts as analogies for parts of an empire. For example, the heart represented the most important part, and the hands showed how empires expanded. It was really creative and my teacher made it so much fun.
If you could learn any skill instantly, what would it be?
I would want to learn how to cook so I could make good food for myself and my family.
Would you rather be able to talk to animals or be able to speak and understand any language in the world?
I’d rather speak and understand any language because I feel like I already understand animals, like my dog. Being able to communicate with everyone and travel anywhere would be awesome. I’ve never been out of the country, but this past summer, I went on a trip across the United States with a group called Teen’s West Road Bound. We visited 22 states in 23 days, hitting major spots, national parks and cities.
What's something you're really passionate about outside of school?
I’m really passionate about softball. I’ve been playing since I was four. I love the competitive aspect, challenging myself and the team environment. My best friends play with me, so it’s always so much fun. Right now, I only play for the school, but during my freshman, sophomore and junior years, I played on a travel team, too. It was all about prioritizing my schedule and making time for what I’m passionate about.
What three words best describe you?
- Positive
- Intelligent
- Caring
I always try to look at the bright side of things, I love school and learning and I enjoy helping others.
What is your happiest school memory?
One of my happiest school memories is from junior year when I finished my AP Seminar presentation. It was a big, stressful project, but once my friends and I finished, we celebrated together. It felt amazing, and we all ended up passing, which made it even better.
If you could pick any three people to hang out with for a day, who would it be and why?
Jesus, because I have so many questions. Taylor Swift, because she’s an icon and I’d love to meet her. And my grandma, because she’s my best friend, and we always have so much fun together.
