UCPS Dual Language/Immersion (DL/I) Program: A Journey of Words and Cultures
DL/I programs provide a comprehensive package to develop and maintain consistent, high-quality K-8 world language programs in North Carolina. In a DL/I classroom, VIF provides teachers with tools to promote academic achievement through enrichment rather than remediation.
Sun Valley Elementary School’s Spanish immersion students got a surprise this month when OMNOVA representative, Christie Alexander presented $3,000.00 to buy Spanish library bound books.
Starting its fifth year at Shiloh, the Dual Lanugage/Immersion program is an international program that brings teachers from different countries around the world (Latin America, England, China, Europe and South America) to the United States. The job of these teachers is to enrich students’ cultural knowledge and to give them the opportunity to learn another language.
Second graders in the Dual Language/Immersion program at Shiloh Elementary took a virtual tour to Spanish wonderland. They learned about the 21 Spanish speaking countries around the world, their location on the global map, colored each country’s flag and saw real pictures of some of these countries through Google Maps.
