UCPS Dual Language/Immersion (DL/I) Program
July, 2017, UCPS expanded their dual language immersion programs to include East Elementary and Walter Bickett Elementary Schools. East Elementary and Walter Bickett Elementary offer the 'dual language two-way program model'. Students study content in two languages each day. In UCPS, language arts is offered in both English and Spanish. Science and Social Studies are taught in English. Math is taught in Spanish. UCPS now offers DLI programs within 11 schools.
Best wishes! ¡Buena suerte!
Sun Valley Elementary School’s Spanish immersion students got a surprise this month when OMNOVA representative, Christie Alexander presented $3,000.00 to buy Spanish library bound books.
Starting its fifth year at Shiloh, the Dual Lanugage/Immersion program is an international program that brings teachers from different countries around the world (Latin America, England, China, Europe and South America) to the United States. The job of these teachers is to enrich students’ cultural knowledge and to give them the opportunity to learn another language.
Second graders in the Dual Language/Immersion program at Shiloh Elementary took a virtual tour to Spanish wonderland. They learned about the 21 Spanish speaking countries around the world, their location on the global map, colored each country’s flag and saw real pictures of some of these countries through Google Maps.
