Thrista Venkat

Carlos Martinez

We are so excited to announce that Thrista Venkat and Carlos Martinez are the #VirtuallyAwesome Students of the Six Weeks! UCVirtual is our in-house blended learning program built by UCPS teachers. UCPS students are able to take a variety of courses in our online learning platform, Canvas.

Thrista Venkat is a freshman at Weddington High School. She is currently enrolled in AP World History being taught by Mrs. Candace Starnes. “It is clear after meeting Thrista that she is enthusiastic about learning! She is always proactive in her learning, has great communication skills, and asks thought provoking questions. Thrista is a 9th grader taking AP World History and is doing so well because of her effort and consistency!” Mrs. Starnes had nothing but positive comments to share about Thrista.

Carlos Martinez is currently a sophomore at Cuthbertson High School. Carlos is taking Global Awareness with his teacher Ms. Marsha Teal. Ms. Teal not only nominated Carlos for her academic ability, but also because of his positivity! “Carlos is a joy to have in class. He is always so eager to engage in the lesson or activity for the day. He is always smiling and pleasant. Carlos always treats others with kindness. If more people approached life with the positive and kind attitude of Carlos, the world would be so much better off.”

Thrista and Carlos both received a #VirtuallyAwesome Certificate and UCVirtual #VirtuallyAwesome t-shirt to recognize them as outstanding students!  We are extremely proud to honor these students and their achievements, they are truly #VirtuallyAwesome!
